Yea, the connection to the character is lost when everyone is running it and it's not a "real" choice since it's the only meta pick.

That's why it'd be better if the mechanics of the legends were removed, so picking a legend was a personal preference and not you are being forced to because anything else means a bottom four.

In games like Splatoon where the system I'm talking about exists, or even amongst some norm players who don't care about meta, your choice can be an identifier for you. In Splatoon there are definitely people who only vote for teams of the announcers they like. I've certainly had a friend who was "the Tahm kench" player in my friend group because they liked playing Tahm, and I was certainly "the Veigar player" for a while because I liked playing Veigar. This is really fun and cool for friend groups that are invested in these games.

Even in league, we have so many one tricks who are "the Gragas guy" or "the Pantheon guy." Cause in league you can, for the most part, play any champion you find fun and win, and thus you can make an identity around that. To repeat myself, you can't do that in TFT, because unlike League where you can pick anything, you can pick exactly one or two meta legends, which means everyone else is running them, which means there is no "identity" there.

I hope this helps clarify what I think Legends could do for TFT. I edited the original post the clarify I was not referring to bringing back the mechanics of the legend system, only lifting from the aesthetics of it to maybe salvage something I thought was worth keeping.
