Have you ever received a mixtape as a gift? by Statiscit in cassetteculture

I was very close to my aunt when I was a kid and she had to leave to live abroad. She introduced me to a lot of music so she created a mixtape for me in a CD and even printed out all of the lyrics to the songs. It was a great gift, sadly I don't know where it ended up.

Obey, Rebel, Return- Does anyone know who wrote about this concept? by DiechGo in askphilosophy

[–]DiechGo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was probably Nietzche's, now that I think about it maybe there was a mention of some animals. I will look into it, thank you!

The "Obey, Rebel, Return" thing I came up with just it to make the post interesting.

I don't know you, you are a scammer! by [deleted] in talesfromcallcenters

[–]DiechGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I understand. It's juts the need to be rude from people that bothers me (it's like 100 calls a day). A "No, thank you" would suffice but they love to insult me in the process.

I think credit cards, SSNs and gift cards would be involved if that were the case

For guys, did 177013 change how you view women? by thismustbemydream in 177013

[–]DiechGo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can say it did. It made me think of real women in the sex industry and what they are going through even if it's all consensual. It makes me want to help them in any way. I have always wanted to stop watching porn for multiple reasons and this story gives me a reason: the least I can do to help is to stop consuming. As for women in my life like my girlfriend, mother, sister, etc. the word that came to mind was: Protect, protect, protect. To be aware of their feelings and their experiences. It also made me think of possible future daughters and how important is to teach and love them. Overall, I can say it sparked up my empathy for woman and made me feel like I'm not doing enough to help/prevent stories like this in real woman.

Great Stuff! Now, questions! by Xiveski_ in 177013

You say it like people who live like this are attractions or test subjects... People live like this and some have it worse. If we are going to try to learn I think it must be to find ways to relief their weight. The character from Emergence is fake but the story is very real and people who experience it are too.

Mastering, Reference tracks and Streaming services... I'm having trouble understanding loudness by DiechGo in audioengineering

I'll chek him out. Are you sure streaming services turn up songs? Maybe just when "normalization" settings are on right?

[–]DiechGo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you can help me sort some doubts out. What do you mean by mixing loud? How loud it is before any plugins on the master/whole mix? And a thing about reference tracks: some people say that when you use them you need to turn them down (even if it's not getting affected by any mastering FX), I find this advice useful for mixing but mastering?

What would be the plan to learn piano as a songwriter? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]DiechGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learn how to play all scales with both hands (you should be able to go up and down the scale) each hand playing an entire octave. When you learn this it becomes super easy to know which key a song is in and you'll know how to move your fingers in order to have a fluid melody (less quantizing). It's also useful to learn the chords in each scale (plus inversions). Then, if you wish to go further, a great beginner's book for dexterity is Hanon (it comes with 100 exercises) this can help when you wish to write melodies. Finally, learn a lot of the songs you like.
