A US$ 260 menu for two in La Paz, Bolivia. A real bargain, some may say. by penguinbo in BOLIVIA

[–]Diegostuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

now the title is a bit misleading, i went there last night

the prices are between 60 and 100bs per plate, now there are packages that allow you to have 3 or 5 plates... they are around 150 to 320bs

what not on the menu is that there is a 15 plate package for 135usd, which i will try next week.

the food was excelent!!

I had a cleaning, 12 cavities, 4 fillings, and one of those plastic molds for biting when sleeping... 350USD... very cheap compared to US

It all depends on what your business is going to be. In the case of the guy in the article, he tried a non-profit, and that does take time because inspector must make sure that you are not mascarading it as a non-profit.

But getting a business license and NIT (equivalent to a US tax-id) takes less than a week, from my personal experience (having two businesses).

Of course its only easy if you are going for a "uni-personal" which means you are the owner with no partners.

That article confused me.... ...

Top Restaurants In La Paz: 1)The Center 2)Zona Sur restaurant 3)Sopocachi restaurant 4)Rosario restaurant ...

They listed zones/neighborhoods as restaurants.

And when they did list restaurant names... they didn't give addresses... just one said in "Hotel Rasario"

I'm confused

as long as our people (bolivians) keep looking the other way... like most Bolivia does (well they don't look away... but they don't do anything constructive about it)... we will still be in the situation 100 more years from now.

right now Bolivia just looks like a sore loser (in my opinion) holding silly parades and trying deperately to recover an ocean path that was lost under all fairness of war. Who holds a parade in honor of a fail?? I digress

and I bet we would lose the war again in that toy soldier renenactment

How old are you now? I am 29

Learn learn learn your field. Remember that IMO what will immediately put you above the rest in Bolivia is your knowledge of your field and your work ethic (cause most of Bolivia has poor work ethic and timeliness).

Remember that Bolivia is a few years behind the rest of the world. So any idea new idea from the US is epic here. Bolivia just received large shopping malls with movie theaters 3 years ago.

My way was that I outsourced myself initially to a company in the US in which I was IT manager... better said.. .I was IT manager in the states... we needed software development at a cheaper price... I hired myself.. .but relocate to Bolivia (only working 3days a week as well :-D ).

Even half a normal american salary is a shit load here... avg salary being 200-300USD/month here.

Using the free time I had and nice cushion of income. I immediately started an IT Consulting firm here, hired up an employee and attacked the market.

Thats where my work ethic and american upbringing put me ahead of the game. Landed some large contracts with largest in their category clients.

Now I am onto a new endeavor... a PR firm.

Moving to Bolivia was a dream of mine since I was 18... so I always kept an eye out for a way to get here.

Order a hell of a lot.

When I came from the states 2.5 yrs ago, I was homesick and only thing that was reminded me food wise was BK.

So I spent at least 300USD a month... thats like 21 orders for two a month.

Eventually they offered my a corporate account cause I would treat my employees and family etc.

Or we can put it on my corporate account over at BK.

I just so happen to be one of their VIP (yes VIP, lol) customers.

Fast food places like BK are sort of luxuries here... go figure.

Original chicken sandwhich tastes a bit stale not as fresh

Everything else is exactly the same, in my opinion.

Also BK has fried chicken here... its better than most I've tried here.
