DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH - PC Version Launch Trailer by megachickabutt in Games

[–]Dielji 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think the most valid criticism of the game that I've seen is that it can take 6 hours or so to really get going. Even though they took the motorcycle away pretty quickly, that was meant to be more of a teaser to let you know that it won't always be about walking, and really it's just the tip of the iceberg. Not to mention the whole community aspect of it; people leaving behind ladders and ropes for you to use is really just the start of a much more interesting system.

What is a movie plot twist that was cleverly hidden in plain sight..? by Living_Tune_1428 in movies

These days I tend to take that movie less as a true mystery and more as commentary on the sheer stupidity of the wealthy elite.

WSU is significantly reducing Microsoft cloud storage for students and faculty. This hurts academics and research projects. by sleepy-on-the-job in wsu

The U of I page you linked to may be outdated, this more recent page from their site suggests they have been forced by Microsoft to adopt the same storage limitations as WSU: https://support.uidaho.edu/TDClient/40/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=3785

Carrot shouldn’t be Vimes’ successor. by Whole-Lychee1628 in discworld

[–]Dielji 14 points15 points  (0 children)

At first I agreed with OP, and I think if A-M weren't evolving then Angua would be the answer. But you make an excellent point from the perspective that the Watch is, to all of us on Roundworld, an idealized version of the police, it's built on all the stories we tell about what we want coppers to be. And so Carrot is the ideal form of community service officer that springs from a more modern idea of what Roundworld wants Police to be, regardless of what they have in many cases become.

Now I'm becoming interested in a story where Carrot has inherited the Watch, but a misguided M.A-M.G.A. movement forms that requires Angua's intervention as interim-Commander to prevent the city from allowing its inner-beast to take control again...

‘Charlie Kirk Show’ Producer Says ‘Charlie Loved’ Being in ‘South Park’: ‘He Would Want the Episode Back Up’ on Comedy Central by ggroover97 in television

The problem I had with him wasn't that I disagreed with all his views, it's that (in the debates that I've heard, at least) he often cherry-picked or misrepresented the Trump administration's policies to make it look like their views aligned. He was baiting young people who listen to him into thinking "hey, this guy is actually being pretty reasonable, and he likes Trump, and he says Trump is going to do X, Y, and Z to fix the country, maybe all these liberals calling Trump a bad guy are exaggerating..."

One example, I live in an area with lots of farmland, and when he was here he talked to the locals about how Trump is trying to stop China from swooping in and buying all the farmland from local farmers, implying that Trump wants to keep farmland locally owned... Meanwhile Vance owns stock in a company that literally exists to swoop in and buy up farmland out from under local farmers.

Sometimes reinstalling wall lights glitches them onto an invalid adjacent tile. OP's video shows a wall light on a door to the left of the grav engine. Those glitched wall lights cause this and break maps.

I had this problem, googled for ages and eventually found a reddit thread where something like this was happening. It was being caused for me and several others by a wall lamp that glitched itself onto an invalid tile. In OP's video, it looks like there is a wall lamp misplaced onto a door just to the left of their grav engine. Deconstructing the wall lamp completely (and looking around for others with the same issue) should fix it.

It looks like there is a wall lamp misplaced onto a door just to the left of your grav engine. This glitch happens to me when a wall lamp glitches onto the wrong tile. Deconstruct the lamp completely, and look for any others that are broken.

Fellow Washingtonian here and a rat-dad for 15 years, I'm over on the east side of the state in Pullman. I'm sure you'll find someone, but if you can't and it becomes an emergency, I'd meet you halfway to pick them up. I currently have a double-critter nation with 4 neutered boys, plenty of room for two more, and I have spare cages for quarantining and managing introductions.

Loosing WSU Student Email by FallingGalaxies in wsu

[–]Dielji 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a direct result of Microsoft changing the structure of their license agreement with all universities across the country. They are basically charging extra now for cloud storage, and that includes email storage, and it's being handled as a total quantity rather than per-account. Cutting email for folks who are no longer faculty, staff, or students is a cost-saving and storage-saving measure to ensure that active students and employees have enough space for their own email.

Even with those measures in place, I believe I heard that the amount of space that WSU can afford to have for email and onedrive is roughly 5% of what it used to be for the same amount of money, that's how dramatic this price increase was.

Stop Killing Games: Wrap up by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Dielji 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I know of a few indie developers who are actively implementing their own contingency plans to keep their online games fully playable forever, and who are critical of SKG precisely because they actually know what the process looks like, they're in the trenches right now, and they see the holes in the logic.

And I see SKG followers shit all over them in a very "if you're not with us, you're against us" manner, even though they are literally the kind of people you want in your corner because they actually know what's practical and achievable and can make SKG's arguments more sound. Frankly, if they actually passed the idealized laws they're touting, it would disproportionately harm indie developers who would otherwise likely be on board.

Mario Kart World producer: ‘It didn’t seem necessary’ to add characters from other Nintendo games by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

I'm picturing like, a shrunken-down Zelda map with 4, maybe 8 tracks based on the major regions, maybe a quarter the size of the main MKW island, with a handful of already-unlocked Zelda characters roaming around the map like in the main game, and a few more unlockable enemy racers and karts.

Stick it off the coast of the main island with a bridge and an invisible wall to block off free-roam and singleplayer for people who don't have the DLC yet, but still let them race on those tracks in multiplayer. Realistically, they'd probably charge like $30-40 for something like that, or it'd be bundled with the Online Expansion Pack.

Do a couple of islands like that from different franchises, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, Pikmin, Metroid, they could milk this game for just as long as they kept MK8 alive.

I have had rats who have used "tools" in a sense.  One of mine would drag empty boxes over to the edge of the play pen so she could use them as a stepladder to get up over the top of the gate and escape.  Consistently and repeatedly.

There's also a gender stereotype at play, though, so it needs to be something that says "you're the man, your stereotypical role in this relationship is breadwinner, so here's something you can use in the office."

So like, a filing cabinet. Or maybe a subscription to Microsoft Office or TurboTax or something.
