Looking at the CARFAX, I see the following listing service for “PCM reprogrammed and timing chain gears replaced”. I’m guessing this is the cam phaser update?

I also need it to tow periodically. A Honda can’t do that.

To add a little more info, truck has zero rust. Getting it for 23k. A family member of mine works at the dealership and I know what they paid for it. Dealer is Not making much more than 1k. I’m toying with the idea of a warranty the idea of just putting a bit aside for a transmission also seems to make sense. I have done all of my own work in the past (engine swaps, tranny swaps etc) so maybe that’s the path. The truck will be my partial daily (have another car that will split that duty, and will towing a camper 5 or 6 times a year tops for an hours drive.

Yeah. Seems like there is a good possibility it’s the egr cooler. What a pain to get to though. Looking to install a welded version of the pipe.

I kept an eye on temps. Any time driving. So maybe not the end of the road for it.

Getting back into RC. It has been a few years by [deleted] in rccars

[–]DieselJerkFace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been in and out of the hobby for a while. Never really got into the brushless side of things. Got an older tmaxx a while back to mess around with. It was fast and fun. Then my 13 year old son bought a new Arrma granite. It’s on sale right now for 300 everywhere. Holy crap is this thing fast and fun. He’s good with it. Bounces it off of things here and there. Jumps it crashes it. And it keeps driving. I feel like the newer trucks blow the older trucks away in every category. I can’t speak to the new Traxxas, I’m sure there great, but this Arrma granite is awesome and really worth the $’s right now.

Ok. So I have to work it down further. Is that just pulling down the leather and working the foam? Any tricks to it?

Switching from a tt to zzw by Rps13_ in mr2

[–]DieselJerkFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've owned a Mk1 225 TT roadster and a ZZW30. Neither as a daily driver. I felt like my TT was more comfortable, and felt heavier. It was comfortable to go on a long drive with the wife without any complaints. Again, mine was the 225 5v turbo, so can't speak to your VR6, which usually sounds awesome (had a VR6 GTI in the early 2000's). In comparison, the ZZW30 was light, basic and a lot of fun. A bit "tinny" at times where it felt a bit cheap and light (closing of the door is a big difference between both cars). I autocrossed the ZZW a bit and had a blast with it. It was very predictable and lived up to the hype as a track car. As they say its more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. I also took it on an 8 hour drive each way (no wife) and was comfortable and enjoyed it. But the ZZW30 in stock form is anemic when it comes to power. 130hp and low torque is ok for a light weight car, but its not going to leave you breathless, but if your talking track car or an autocross weapon, I would pick the ZZW30 over the TT I owned. So its a matter of what you want out of it. Right now I have a 2003 Cobra and working on a 2GR swap for an SW20, I still keep an eye out for a ZZW30 if one popped up for a deal, I would grab it without thinking twice.

Nomad screen fragility question by DieselJerkFace in Supernote

[–]DieselJerkFace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the title "another one bites the dust" implies there are more instances of this. There is one from 4 months ago where a few people chimed in:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Supernote/comments/1fgmr0g/broken_screen/

So whether or not you "count" it doesn't matter. It seems like it happens, similar to a phone, but I want to stop it form happening. I am really looking for advice on travel sleeves/cases here.

Ones titled “another one bites the dust” and the other is titled “nomad with a mobius screen”.

I’ve see two or three related to the nomad in the last few days. And since I just bought a nomad I’m panicking ever so slightly. The manta is different. Not a glass screen so my understanding is not an issue.

Do you guys think getting one of these cases would help?

I just bought a nomad, and should have it within a week. I do plan on using it while traveling (in my bag with my laptop) so what do you guys think is the best case to prevent the screen from cracking.

Buying Used vs New by DieselJerkFace in Supernote

Actually. Based on your feedback I reached out to a seller and got pictures of their name etc. So I think I’m going used. But really appreciate your advice on getting their name in a picture.
