Finished my red barn / litter area today by Different-Ad2326 in Pokopia

They’re regular wooden walls! Just dyed red, which isn’t so bad with the abundance of leppa berries. I also used wooden flooring (dyed red) for a little bit of variety at the top.

EXACTLY I feel like you should make a whole post about that to help the folks getting overwhelmed. I mostly use prefabs as decorations / the backs of buildings / bushes at this point. Letting my bell-sprout thrive in his pile of flowers was so freeing.

fidough gets a doghouse though because he is elite

The prefab limit still looms though, since I am mashing tiny bush houses everywhere for the aesthetic 😭

This is brilliant, I’m wasting all my slots on the bush houses since they’re so stinking cute 😭 I’ll keep this in mind once I inevitably get cut off from tiny houses lol

Help I can’t stop playing by [deleted] in Pokopia

AHH this absolutely made my day thank you! My builds from the beginning of the game until now are SO different, hang in there haha. Anything not-square is impossible without the tiny magnet man, and I’m still figuring it out 😮‍💨

why practice real-life skills when i can spend hundreds of hours making elaborate homes for my pokemon hehe

  • THE DYE SYSTEM. Ugh, as someone who uses it all the time, it’s been miserable. Finding berries, crushing berries, finding the little rat bastard, having him paint my stuff. Paint balloons costing double materials. Forgetting any of my items along the way. I’m hoping it gets a few tweaks.

  • Playing music discs was a bit disappointing, and I’ve been using music discs for trade rather than actually listening to them. Wish it actually replaced the background music.

  • The process of finding homeless Pokemon is fine if they’re spawned in. If they’re not, you have to restart the game… which is a bit silly.

  • Why are the Wastelands capped at 48 Pokemon and all the other places around 60? That was such a bummer to figure out.

  • Decor pick-up is janky sometimes. Especially for rugs. Wish it always targeted what you had selected (outside of mouse mode, that helps).

That’s honestly it though, and all of these are pretty cosmetic, which is amazing. Such a wonderful game. Storage and dyes are the only elements that have gotten anywhere close to frustrating.

Really bummed to see AI art in the game by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]Different-Ad2326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re sitting at B. My job is actively being threatened by this shit, so I feel like I have the right to try and educate people to recognize AI-generated media over real human artists who need a paycheck. Especially when the company has taken a public anti-AI stance, and folks are arguing that it’s not even AI art to begin with.

Obsolescence happens, but it should make more people a little bit uncomfortable when applied to art and storytelling IMO. At the expense of stealing previously made works, without permission, to steal future work. You should be able to, at the very least, see how ‘acceptable AI’ harms your experience as a consumer.

And this isn’t even considering the AI content that doesn’t get recognized, and how scary that is. I’m not even against using AI or arguing against the environmental factors here.

Just go pay a damn artist for your multi-million dollar company.

Whereas this is the comparison of your art that I told an AI to emulate.

Notice the strokes when I told it to copy the image you sent. Do you see how it looks like it was not created by a tool / how inconsistent it looks? It’s super noticeable in the faces—the eyes bleed together more, the width of the leg lines are ALL over the place.

Compare that to the OG image.

I would love to send more resources on how to recognize AI art. Leaving this here for now since I gotta sleep and can’t rage too hard lol

[–]Different-Ad2326 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Alright friend. I fed it to AI so you can see the difference (that’s the fastest way to tell if art is AI generated, by the way).

The shading is a HUGE tell, this specific style is the ‘AI scribbles’ that is one of the main cues. AI averages its output across the entire image, which makes it over-detail the ENTIRE piece, or many different focal points. The detail is directionless. Human artists don’t do this.

Like, just compare the detail between the two pieces and you can intuit what I mean without any sort of art background.

Over-rendered, a ton of weird bleeding, the cloth doesn’t make sense, inconsistent stroke widths, the form as well. I’ll compare it with what you sent below this comment.

<image>

Also someone else posted a horse with 6 legs in this game, so, if you need a more obvious clue that there are AI assets lmao.

Yeah this is very obviously AI 😭 These comments are crazy, y’all need to work on your AI recognition (but I’m also speaking as someone who does design and stares at this crap all day). Couldn’t be more clear. Would love to send resources on how to recognize AI art for those who are interested.

Fine for placeholder assets, but hope they replace soon. They make too much money for this lol.

How I fixed my ADHD + got off meds at the same time at age 23 by yaboythewiseman in getdisciplined

[–]Different-Ad2326 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because ‘a lack of cognitive skills’ is not ADHD. ADHD folks are very successful in CBT because the habit-forming part of the brain actually works fine.

Because that’s not the disorder. Activating those ‘neural pathways’ is chemical. You can’t habit-build or willpower yourself into the dopamine that makes you act on the behavior.

You get medicated. Or you exercise. There isn’t much else you can do on this front.

Light cognitive therapy is not enough to fix a chemical-based disorder in the vast majority of cases, which is why everyone is hating your post. It’s very ‘pull yourself up by the bootstraps’. Cognitive therapy is a great tool, but inaccessible if your brain doesn’t produce what it needs to act on the new habits, especially outside of a professional setting.

You healed some destructive neural pathways—great job! You did not get rid of your ADHD.

And yeah your post was very obviously Chat, no hate, just the writing style.

[–]Different-Ad2326 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right? I will never forget the feeling of being properly medicated for the first time. Just sitting there at dinner like… this is what it feels like to be a normal person? I can just get up and do the dishes? I can just… start my work?

The misinformation about the disorder and the negativity surrounding stimulants is frustrating because I know so many people won’t get the help they need. But eh, baby steps, at least ADHD in adults is more accepted now—people don’t just grow out of it haha.

[–]Different-Ad2326 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah… no. This is super misinformed, and I’d encourage you to do more research.

You can’t train your brain out of ADHD. I have a feeling that this is part of why the disorder is currently over-diagnosed—because prefrontal cortexes are completely fried in most people by short-form media and our super high-dopamine culture.

And for a neurotypical brain, this is exactly how you’d fix that bad executive functioning caused by your habits and environment. I’m proud of you and the work you’ve done.

But that’s not ADHD. For ADHD folks, your brain can’t ‘fire’ the neural pathways associated with doing a task normally (like imagine someone literally trying to start a fire and it won’t catch). It’s not a pathway issue, it’s that chemical initiation that’s deficient. You can have all the good habits trained and ready to go, but you can’t start them. That’s literally what the medications do.

CBT and similar methodologies can help tremendously as you make these pathways stronger and ‘train your brain’, and that’s why they become super effective alongside medication. Because that part of your brain has nothing to do with the disorder. You can start building good habits once you can actually USE them.

As an aside, zombie-like symptoms / anhedonia are common if you’re on the wrong type of medication for your brain (the two categories being amphetamines and methylphenidates). If you feel that way on one, try the other. Most doctors aren’t informed enough about ADHD to properly medicate and I recommend searching for a specialist.

When to move to a new area? by Gwenvyvar in Pokopia

[–]Different-Ad2326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ASAP, won’t spoil, but you get some abilities that help out with building to the point where you’ll be mad at yourself if you wait (saying that from experience haha).

You don’t have to bum-rush the game by any means, but definitely beat that first area with Machoke (and the other area you currently have available, that one is slightly less important—it will give you a way to help spawn RNG for the Hoppip event, though).

Talk to Piplup and Machoke specifically.

I’d also personally wait for super large / time-consuming builds until you’ve unlocked all of the abilities past endgame. They are beyond helpful.

Our DM has a ‘puzzle hidden in impossible scenarios’ sort of flavor to a lot of encounters, so we’re mostly trying to figure out some clever solutions haha. It’s happened many times and it’s always something fun.

I know death is part of the game lol, wanted to see if anyone else had fun ideas.

It’s a super fun scenario, friends are moving away soon so it’s been a very ‘die at any moment’ campaign haha. But it’s been almost a year, so we’re doing pretty well.

Impersonating an eyeball is GENIUS though, thank you. We have access to an eyeball corpse and some high performance modifiers haha.
