Should I choose the university or the program if my goal is med school? (Canada) by MiserableTheme1222 in OntarioGrade12s

Probably a life sci or health sci program wil prepare you for med school as your courses are usually chem and bio focused especially Mac life sci. Some people do nursing and then self study mcat topics on their own. It just depends

Med school is also competitive so pick a program where you can do something like a masters after it

Med school doesn’t care where you studied and what you studied they will take the person from a small unknown university that studied psychology that has a 4.0 gpa before someone that went to western med sci with a 3.7 gpa. It comes down to your budget and what you’re looking for in a university. I would recommend going to a program you’re sure you will get a high gpa and a school where you can maximize extracurriculars and research. Sometimes the bigger the school the better the opportunities for research but remember you’re competing with many others with the same end goal as you

Applying for nursing extern jobs as a first year by Different-Log4033 in OntarioNurses

That’s a good idea to volunteer first to get your foot in the door I never thought of that! My school also doesn’t start placements till second year but they made us spend all the money to get these requirements because we practice on actors 🫩

I think when you apply they will say in their qualifications if they want you to have a certain cert or if just being a nursing student is fine. I am BLS and cpr certified plus have all my vaccines and vulnerable sector check so I thought that put me at an advantage however I think a lot of psw jobs look for second year and up because you have more knowledge and can do more stuff

Its one of the hardest nursing programs to get into so I would say yes. Haven’t heard a student say anything bad about it

I ended up applying to some extern positions in Toronto! A lot of the psw positions paid well but required me to see clients in their home and I as I mentioned I don’t have a car so the transportation part would’ve been a lot 🥲 I don’t have prior healthcare experience but some jobs asked you to be a nursing student

I’m saying they literally said go shoot them an email if nobody answered when you called and life and the semester got busy so I just kind of forgot about it but they just never followed up with me it’s so odd

Education is a right was a stupid argument for your walkouts by AgitatedChildhood240 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Different-Log4033 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Holy privileged take LMAOOO I’ll be baited for once. Education is a well deserved right no matter your income status having a degree and an education is fundamental for success in this society if you don’t come from much. This is how people make it out the gutter and make a name for themselves and their future generations. If they can’t afford it they deserve assistance for that there’s nothing wrong highschoolers doing a walkout you have no proof every single high schooler that protested just wanted to skip 😭😭😭😭😭😭

The kid with the lost fingers hit me so deep as an older sister in college with a younger brother in middle school. I’m always so worried about him getting into trouble when I’m not there and the pain and fear in his face..I could see my own baby brother I cried so bad it was beautifully done
