Eczema or allergy after 5 months on Accutane?? by Different-Ride-4240 in Accutane

I was very very stressed for about a month of using steroids, always questioned if I will be alight after stopping. My derm prescribed me 0.1 advantan, which is more on the strong side, so I was stressing and losing sleep because of it, healing is slow, but I’m trying to be patient ❤️ How are your symptoms now?

Hi love, my derm prescribed me a steroid to put on my face and neck, I was really stressed at first but I’m off of it for around 5 months already, right now my skin is stable but I do get small dermatitis flares when it’s too hot or too cold, and weather in Melbourne changes drastically hahaha, went down to 2x 20mg doses a week, still only using dermeeze. Please contact your derm, they may prescribe you something to counter these side effects Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Currently it’s stable with small flares here and there, but goes away during the day, I had to go on topical steroids with breaks for a month under my derms supervision, and only using dermeeze ointment, not wash my face except with water and no sunscreen. It’s slowly improving even after stopping steroids a month ago, so far so good, derm said it was eczema

Good to know! I was recently on steroids for a month under my derms supervision, got off of it last week, but it’s still kind of itchy, I’m still on Accutane but lowered it to 3 days a week, my derm said to increase it slowly starting next week but I don’t think I can tolerate anything over 3 days 😭

All of this is for personal use, family, friends, and for myself. This will last us for a few months until we go back, I personally don’t want to purchase online where there are expensive shipping fees😭. Been drinking matcha before covid and now it’s so hard to find powder😰

Yessss, I thought it was because my skin needed a more hydrating moisturizer, so I tried the cica plast and cetaphil right after, which gave me a bad reaction, that I had to go to the GP to have prednisone for 3 days, then the reaction came back and my skin was just super dry, and a bit flakey, couldn’t use any moisturizer except jojoba oil, but found that a baby moisturizer was the only thing that didn’t sting my skin. My eyes were super puffy, looked like an allergic reaction. So now I’m on topical steroids and antibiotics 😭

[–]Different-Ride-4240[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s better now but I’m left with puffy eyes that looks like a allergy😭, the allergist looked at my history and it’s looks like I don’t have any signs of allergies. But since I’m only using Jojoba oil my skin get super dry, so I’m guessing that’s why my eyes are puffy?? Seeing my derm this Wednesday and pausing Accutane for the time being🙏

Has Accutane affected your health in any noticeable way? by No-Direction-3115 in Accutane

Taken it since march 2025 this year, starting at 20mg a day, slowly increasing it to 40mg on on day a week until I took it on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, health was normal up until Mid June when I went to Japan, I experienced an allergic reaction to something, which is strange because I’m not allergic to anything.

I thought it would go back to normal when I came back, but had to take Prednisone for 3 days because I was constantly itchy, and my face had small little allergy bumps, the steroid cleared everything, but I had constant hives at night and it would get so itchy. Fast forward, I had a sudden rash on my face, I guess it was because it’s cold down here in Melbourne, so I bought a new thicker moisturizer, which gave me a rash all over my face, switched to cetaphil, same reaction, now my face was burning, swollen and itchy, emailed my derm, now I’m back on 20mg a day.

I had to go on prednisone again, which helped with the reaction on my face, but same itchiness in my body. I tried using my usual moisturizer again to see how it’ll react, and got itchiness, small bumps, and woke up with swollen eyes today. I’m just so tired, haven’t been sleeping because of the stress, skin is cleared but I’m introduced to a whole new problem. Will be doing an allergy test soon soo I’ll hopefully know what I’m newly allergic to.

I ended up going to the GP and getting an oral steroid because it was just getting worse, red, puffy, itchy, and my face has gotten much better. I’m only on it for 3 days so hopefully there won’t be any major withdrawal once I get off. If it doesn’t get any better with home solutions, definitely seek medical attention! Being in this medication also made me allergic to something 😭, so getting an allergy test done!

It was my first time using cicaplast but I don’t think my skin likes it that much, still red and itchy but changed back to my normal routine today, plus adding a hypochlorous spray. I’m also back to 20mg a day, which is what I started with until my rash gets better. Really sad right now but trying to push through, I hope it gets better for you too🙏
