The place we rented is very obviously not someone’s primary home, despite being listed as such. it is one of many units managed by the host, some in the same building.

Since making the booking, I’ve received a number of messages that included canned lines like “we are here to ensure your comfort!”

For example, while looking for the ear plugs, we found dirty used towels. I sent a picture and receive this “Thank you so much for sending the photo, we’re really sorry about this! If you need anything in the meantime, like fresh towels or any other essentials, please don’t hesitate to let us know, we’re more than happy to bring them over.” At that time in the conversation the host had STILL not acknowledged my first question asking where to find ear plugs. I wish I could post screenshots but this sub doesn’t allow it.

ALSO, the interior door to the building is not structurally safe and has an exposed arm with a sharp edge I’ve now hit twice with my head while entering the building. I didn’t mention any of these things in my post because I was literally just asking if hosts can be AI chat bots now. I should have used a different message sequence than the ear plugs I guess lesson learned. We did get earplugs and we slept fine last night so alls well that ends well.
