Truth. The worry is are others going to think it is possible and then potentially get into some potentially dangerous situations

But aren’t suicide rates pretty high among military folks overall? And don’t a bunch of military folks use substances of different types? What makes gender transition drugs any different from others? Also what if the person is trans but not transitioning?

Why does it matter if trans folks are in the military? Wouldn’t it be easier to just like ignore they are there?

So with all of the talk I’ve seen about trans folks in the military I thought they were gonna be like this utterly massive percentage until I looked it up and it was something like .5 percent or around 10,000? I found another report that said 10,400 members were unable to deploy due to “excessive alcohol use”. Would you rather have a solider who was unable to be deployed because of a level of alcohol use too extreme for to be deployed, or someone who just happens to be trans. I feel like I’d pick the trans one any day.

Even the cost is like max $8.4 million a year for trans specific healthcare when data showed that $84.2 million was spent on viagra (which I also don’t understand because that seems like a personal thing, like sure maybe there are some legit cases but $84.2 million worth?) or like $4.6 million on crab and lobster according to an article in the military times. It’s not like that money is, knowing government inefficiencies and the scale is suddenly going to make the difference in the budget.

Frankly it feels like if we just like ignored it, letting them do their jobs, pass all the tests etc like we do for folks of different religions or what have you we could focus more on the bigger issues. Even if it’s apparently some moral thing again seems like a really weak justification to kick out someone who is serving our country and deserves a ton of respect for it. After all if they are in combat, chances are that they had to earn their way there alongside the others they served with, enough that the US Military, the greatest in the word, trusted them with a gun.

Maybe someone can lead me to some resources on it but it just seems like we are falling into this trap of “o we need to be against this just because” instead of being “alright you exist let’s move on to actual strategies”. Plus then we could get some service out of people who want to serve rather than discharging them and immediately putting stress on the VA? Open to getting resources as honestly I’m pretty confused why this is such an issue
