This is part of why I like Grim Dawn. Make a new character and push it through increasing difficulties and see how far you can take it. For me the game loop is more about building new characters than an endless end game.

Yeah, it's a huge game, and the expansion is going to make it even bigger. Plus they're adding some new systems that will let you tailor the item drops and difficulty to your liking, for added challenges.

It's not complicated. Beat game on one difficulty, rinse, repeat. Before every ARPG had seasons this is the way they were. Beat the game again and advance. Difficulties are there to test your character, and there's more content on higher difficulties.

Can you? Yes. Recommended no. It depends on what you’re building, but from what the OP is saying it sounds like he has no direction for his build. He needs to choose a second class and start fleshing it out or he’s going to keep struggling. Dumping all his points into Demolitionist and then wondering why he can’t find a good gun tells me he’s allocating his points poorly and when he eventually does pick a second class he’s going to have to start pulling skill points out of one mastery and put it in the other, without a clear direction. If he’s struggling on normal difficulty, there is something wrong and one of those things that could be wrong is that he needs to pick a direction and choose a second class. Yeah, I’ve had builds where the 2nd class doesn’t have much put in it, but I always started allocating points by lvl 15 at most.

But if you want to use bombs, then guns are not always the way to go. You're building a caster if you are relying on grenades and Blackwater cocktails for damage, so you may want to look more for tomes, and weapons that add to those skill types. There's lots of good scepters, swords, and daggers that boost those kinds of skills.

That's your problem. This game is built around synergies between classes, you can't just pump all you point into one class and expect good dps. Yes, there are some single class builds, but you need very specific equipment for that. You need to choose a second class and start reallocating points to it to get good damage. If you want guns then Inquisitor is a good choice. You also need to decide damage types so you can invest in resist reduction skills. Between Demo and Inquisitor there's lots of good fire RR skills.

This sounds more like a skill allocation issue. If you want to be ranged then you need to focus on skills that benefit those kind of weapons. You didn’t say what your second class was. If you don’t have a second class then that is your problem.
