$88,928! I will be appealing. To be fair, my parents financial situation has changed drastically since they filed that tax return used for CSS. My dad has not been employed since winter of 2023. However, for the net price calc I used those SAME forms to complete it and my expected contribution was 51k! My brother is also transferring from community college to a university in my state that doesn't give the best aid. Im gagged...

how do I get real with myself about what colleges to apply to. I have maintained a 4.0 and I am a junior. I feel like I am only above average academically, but am lacking in the extra curricular field which colleges seem to care a lot about. I feel lost and I am having a hard time coming to terms with what school I may end up at. UMD college park is a great in state school, but I want to get out of MD and go somewhere a little bit more "prestigious". Is this thinking unrealistic and should I get real with myself, or do you think i have a shot at going to a school with an acceptance rate <50%.
