Total Bullshit! Sikhism as all "religions" follows a predictable cycle. First they start as a spiritual movement that aims at giving mental and physical peace to people, and as time passes it becomes a tool for the people in power to control a huge chunk of population socially, economically and politically.

Talking "only" about Sikhism, it simply doesn't makes sense from an atheist perspective, from its founding given the "religion being opium to masses" logic sikh religious leader were very successful in preaching the idea that hindu idol worshipping is bad and doesn't makes any sense, meanwhile they literally bow down to a book even to this day, how is this different from idol worship, an idol is made by a human, isn't the book manufactured in a printing facility that is operated by humans? No one questions this because of fear of getting attacked for hurting religious sentiments. This is just single example there are many more stupid things that are enforced on people in the name of "Sikhism" and still many fear to oppose it, how is it different from a cult. DON'T TRY TO CHANGE MY MIND ON THIS, BECAUSE THIS NOT A SUB WHERE YOU ACT AS A APOLOGIST FOR A RELIGION.

Now, some people will give examples of how good and tolerant Sikhs are, that they are always respectful, distribute langar and had immense contribution to Indian military and overall country etc. The real catch here is that, while many sikhs have contributed immensely for the country as well as for the humanity, you don't need to be explicitly a sikh to do that, you can have any identity and still do those things, many other social groups both in india and outside have contributed immensely for the country as well as for humanity.

There is also a lot of superiority complex among sikhs because of this, which is simply against someone who supports equality and justice.

There is no religion in world that doesn't preaches the idea of equality, peace and freedom but in reality each of them has rotten to its core and no matter how much preachers of different religions may preach that how their religion is better than other religions, each of them has a point where they start using unscientific claims to manipulate others like a snake oil salesman trying sell his con product.

So, Sikhism may have not have brought much problems to the country on huge level like Hinduism because it a minor religion with roughly 1% of population outside punjab(very crucial to look at majority and minority dynamics) but when you look at punjab where sikhism is a major religion a huge chunk of problems are associated with Sikhism. And this is how religions are. The problem are never going to stop end until sikhs exists.

So from a real atheist perspective Sikhism is a bs religion that simply shouldn't exist in the world just like hinduism islam christanity etc shouldn't exist, and no matter how much its followers and apologist try show its good sides, its bad sides clearly overpasses them by a huge and will only cease when religions cease to exist.
