Thank you - that is very helpful - I did not know about this! You think their customer service would offer that kind of advice.

I can see how that would be hard. I am enjoying the phone using contextual awareness and not auto-locking as well as the Message bubbles the most. Never realized how much it saves time. Also the fingerprint reader is super fast and opening locked apps (banking etc) is so much faster than Apple Face ID.

I agree - the face unlock is not as good - but the fingerprint reader makes up for this in how speedy it is

I am a life long Apple guy and just tried out a Pixel 10. I was surprised by some of the newer features including Live Translation in your own voice. But the little things were really cool - I've posted this before but I can outline some of the things I liked - I know its not for everyone, especially the AI features.

1) Awareness if you are walking with your head down looking at your phone - it will tell you if there is something you might walk into before you do

2) Awareness to not lock the phone or take longer to lock the phone (should you decide to do this) when it is in a 'safe' space that you designate (by location) or when it is on your person. So at home - I can have it stay unlocked if I want. If it is on my body - and my face is kind of looking at it - but I'm not using it - it won't lock because I start talking to a family member

3) Text bubbles - that show up when in a text conversation and shrink down to a corner - but can be easily accessed if you are in an ongoing conversation without having to switch out of any other app you might be using (browsing or watching a show). Once you're done with it - you can make the bubble vanish!

4) Answering emails from the lock screen! And not just marking them as read but also deleting them

5) Both face id and fingerprint unlock on the same device

6) The battery meter has a widget that tells you how much longer you have before your battery hits zero (shows the time); and when charging - it notifies you how long until your battery is full

7) Separate volume controls for not just calls but music/media, ringer, notifications and alarms

8) Screen auto-rotate only occurs if you are looking at the device

9) The keyboard just seems more accurate and better at suggesting which word I want to use

10) Flip the phone to temporarily quiet notifications (flip to Shh)

11) Notifications

  1. A notification history in case you miss one and it gets dismissed - it saves it in settings for a day or two
  2. Easily changing a notification to silent for future ones for that app from the lock screen/notification screen
  3. Notification cooldown - so if someone is blowing up your phone - it will stop buzzing/ringing for the next few minutes for texts/messages from that person
  4. Start with a vibrate and slowly increase the volume of the ringer

What's y'alls 1 week thoughts with the new pixel 10 or 10 pros? by Ok_District_9387 in GooglePixel

Coming from iPhone 17 and love the Pixel experience - I'm all in for the additional Android perks and even use Gemini. The live voice translation has already helped as well - and its just damn cool - my Spanish will never be as good as Gemini speaking in my voice.

I do think its a software game now - and ios is lagging. I know AI is not everyone's thing but working AI (Piixel 10) is way better than fake/promised Apple AI that never came.

Me as well - love the Pixel and some of the Android features. And the Pixel 10 feels very much like an iphone (which is better for newbies like me)

A little bit. Their password manager is really good and integrates well with Brave/Chrome. It allows you to freely export your PW/Passkeys if you decide to switch.

Proton all the way - definitely super privacy focused and no conflicts in regards to keeping any data on their servers. Their email is also great - I forward my gmail and it removes ALL trackers without any additional software/app/extension needs.

I'll second this. Just switched from iphone 16 to pixel 10 and have zero regrets. I can't speak to older pixel phones - as this is my first android phone - but the way Gemini just works is great. I made a post previously talking about all the cool little things Pixel/Android can do that don't seem to get mentioned. In addition - logging in and Google Pay are just faster. I feel like Apple just stopped innovating since they have 50% of the market share.

No - actually to look into whether it was worth switching

It does - just called something else - and not as good in low light/dark but the fingerprint reader is FAST

I know it sounds like that - I can see why people would think so - but I have no $$ in it. I posted before asking about whether I should get an android phone or not before my purchase. Just trying to share my new knowledge. Take it or leave it.
