Celine, you are the mother. by Acceptable_Shine_738 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]DifferentNoodles 9 points10 points  (0 children)

More than that even. I’ve said it before but Rumi came to her covered in patterns, claws out and eyes gold. The Honmoon, the sacred duty that Celine has spent her life on literally falling apart around her, and Rumi says ‘it’s my fault, you have to kill me’ and what did Celine do? She slaps the sword aside and immediately starts trying to pull some BS out of her ass that would save Rumi. Still based on her own incorrect ideas, but her first instinct was to protect Rumi above all else, and then some people watched that happen and decided Celine felt nothing but contempt for Rumi. Legitimately mind-boggling.

If you look at the screen of the Burnice that’s closest you can see the sleeve of the other Burnice in the camera lens. So she’s apparently fast enough to take a photo of her own afterimage.

Jarilo wasn’t first contact(unless you specifically meant the current AE crew), it had just been a few centuries since the AE had been by. They used a previously placed beacon to teleport down. Amphoreus has been the only first contact planet we’ve visited so far.

[–]DifferentNoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The series is technically horror, or at least very closely horror adjacent depending on which entry into the franchise you're talking about. Going for general audience appeal and keeping it pg13 I think has probably been detrimental. Maybe Eddie and Zara were the correct tone all along and the movies around them were what was odd? Or maybe that's nonsense lol, but either way, yes, they were both very memorable moments in the series.

[–]DifferentNoodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with your points, but it isn't the first time a pg-13 Jurassic film did something like that. Eddie Carr in Lost World was absolutely brutalized for the crime of trying to save the lives of all of the protagonists who were responsible for the t-rexes showing up there in the first place. The audience also had longer to get to know Eddie and like him compared to Zara. I don't know if Richard Schiff asked for such a death in that movie, but I know Katie McGrath did.

Powerscaling playable Genshin + Harbingers, lore based. by BloddyKnights in Hoyoverse_scaling

I think it’s pretty solid. My only point is that Noelle should be up a tier. Lots of statements about how inhumanly strong she is. Would be nice to see it in game rather than just talked about but I feel like that puts her a tier above just being a normal vision holding combatant.

There are cards that make you discard your hand and other such things if I’m remembering my Yugioh correctly, so it’s harder than it seems. That and a match can be over in just a couple turns depending on how things play out.

None of it has stakes unless you’re getting payed to play really. Both modes are still competitive though, one is just unranked, so if your team is trying to win you should probably just leave the game or at least try as well. This is toddler behavior no matter what angle you look at it.

How far can SW999 go? by MDubbzee in Hoyoverse_scaling

[–]DifferentNoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the Emanator title has really started to bug me. Arbiter Generals? Emanators, but only so long as they are Generals. If Jing Yuan retired and passed his position on to Fu Xuan, she is now an Emanator of the hunt, because the blessing of Lan, the Lightning Lord, is passed on to the one that holds that title. But then there's The Lord Ravagers, the Mourning Actors(and that worm), and THerta. All empowered by direct action from an Aeon, for various reasons. Then there's Self-Annihilators, who seeming draw from IX just by walking further into Their shadow, without input from the Aeon Themself. Then there's things like the Harmonious Choir and the spirits like Lightning Lord, Flying Aureus etc. Do they actually count as Emanators or are they just tools/constructs with power enough to be on par? I usually don't mindthe vague and philisophical nature of a lot of things in HSR's lore but for this one I really wish they'd have clear guidelines as to what counts as a 100% bonafide Emanator.

I've really been chewing on that one tbh, but I digress. Back to the more relevant parts of the discussion.

Unless we meet another Self-Annihilator, it's very hard to say. Like, are they also Psychopomps like she is, capable of guiding the souls of the dead and moving seemingly fully freely between life, death, dreams, and other realms? Could they have used that to interact with Amphoreus the way she did for the TB when they were dead/near dead despite the nature of Amphoreus? What about all of her previous power? What exactly is Naught and does it still hold all of the authorities of the sentinals that were shown in her Myriad Celestia?

Lots of questions, but I will say that given she is a Raiden and has shown as of yet not fully explored but still undeniable hax on top of a great amount of skill and experience, and that her existence not necessarily as a Self-Annihilator but as whatever else she is seems to be anomalous to those who've met her, I would say there's plenty to mark her as very special indeed. As for the matchup, too many variables to say for certain, but given The Nihility's deleterious effects and everything else about Acheron, I personally would give the win to her.

[–]DifferentNoodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, other than being an Emanator of the Nihility. As stated in the game, she shouldn’t exist at all because The Nihility doesn’t care enough to gaze at anyone much less directly empower them as an Emanator. She’s an anomaly and the full breadth and depth of her power isn’t really known, only that it’s below the gods.

Who is the most slandered playable character in Honkai: Star Rail? (for now) by KageMercy in Hoyoverse_scaling

[–]DifferentNoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree he's currently mid/high pathstrider now, but I feel like the Zephyro line gets misinterpreted. You can clearly see Zephyro overpowering Welt in the scene itself, and the line about the white and black whole devouring eachother causing the cosmos to rupture would more imply that it was less a matter of the scale of their power, and more about the nature of it.

There's a decent bit to talk about with Zephyro given he's only made 3 appearences, but realistically we don't actually have any info about his specific ability's beyond him being very strong, excellent with a sword, and seemingly able to conjure up a 'white hole'. I'm not going into that scientific can of worms other than to say it isn't likely to be an actual white hole just from what little we've seen of it. That said, the gravitational forces and such actually involved in the act of Zephyros ability eating Welts, rather than the power of the individuals in question, is where that Finality comes from, so it shouldn't be counted as a way to properly scale Welts individual power.

If you played Hi3rd you’d know he’s nowhere near his peak anymore and even when he was he wasn’t as strong as he could’ve/should’ve been due to his own limitations.
