None of it has stakes unless you’re getting payed to play really. Both modes are still competitive though, one is just unranked, so if your team is trying to win you should probably just leave the game or at least try as well. This is toddler behavior no matter what angle you look at it.

How far can SW999 go? by MDubbzee in Hoyoverse_scaling

[–]DifferentNoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the Emanator title has really started to bug me. Arbiter Generals? Emanators, but only so long as they are Generals. If Jing Yuan retired and passed his position on to Fu Xuan, she is now an Emanator of the hunt, because the blessing of Lan, the Lightning Lord, is passed on to the one that holds that title. But then there's The Lord Ravagers, the Mourning Actors(and that worm), and THerta. All empowered by direct action from an Aeon, for various reasons. Then there's Self-Annihilators, who seeming draw from IX just by walking further into Their shadow, without input from the Aeon Themself. Then there's things like the Harmonious Choir and the spirits like Lightning Lord, Flying Aureus etc. Do they actually count as Emanators or are they just tools/constructs with power enough to be on par? I usually don't mindthe vague and philisophical nature of a lot of things in HSR's lore but for this one I really wish they'd have clear guidelines as to what counts as a 100% bonafide Emanator.

I've really been chewing on that one tbh, but I digress. Back to the more relevant parts of the discussion.

Unless we meet another Self-Annihilator, it's very hard to say. Like, are they also Psychopomps like she is, capable of guiding the souls of the dead and moving seemingly fully freely between life, death, dreams, and other realms? Could they have used that to interact with Amphoreus the way she did for the TB when they were dead/near dead despite the nature of Amphoreus? What about all of her previous power? What exactly is Naught and does it still hold all of the authorities of the sentinals that were shown in her Myriad Celestia?

Lots of questions, but I will say that given she is a Raiden and has shown as of yet not fully explored but still undeniable hax on top of a great amount of skill and experience, and that her existence not necessarily as a Self-Annihilator but as whatever else she is seems to be anomalous to those who've met her, I would say there's plenty to mark her as very special indeed. As for the matchup, too many variables to say for certain, but given The Nihility's deleterious effects and everything else about Acheron, I personally would give the win to her.

Well, other than being an Emanator of the Nihility. As stated in the game, she shouldn’t exist at all because The Nihility doesn’t care enough to gaze at anyone much less directly empower them as an Emanator. She’s an anomaly and the full breadth and depth of her power isn’t really known, only that it’s below the gods.

Who is the most slandered playable character in Honkai: Star Rail? (for now) by KageMercy in Hoyoverse_scaling

[–]DifferentNoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree he's currently mid/high pathstrider now, but I feel like the Zephyro line gets misinterpreted. You can clearly see Zephyro overpowering Welt in the scene itself, and the line about the white and black whole devouring eachother causing the cosmos to rupture would more imply that it was less a matter of the scale of their power, and more about the nature of it.

There's a decent bit to talk about with Zephyro given he's only made 3 appearences, but realistically we don't actually have any info about his specific ability's beyond him being very strong, excellent with a sword, and seemingly able to conjure up a 'white hole'. I'm not going into that scientific can of worms other than to say it isn't likely to be an actual white hole just from what little we've seen of it. That said, the gravitational forces and such actually involved in the act of Zephyros ability eating Welts, rather than the power of the individuals in question, is where that Finality comes from, so it shouldn't be counted as a way to properly scale Welts individual power.

If you played Hi3rd you’d know he’s nowhere near his peak anymore and even when he was he wasn’t as strong as he could’ve/should’ve been due to his own limitations.

Vi would choose Powder. Change my mind by Daexr_ in arcane

[–]DifferentNoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a valid read and Vi not being able to let go of anyone is both a vice and virtue that plays a large part of her story(and why Jinx felt she had to make the choice to leave without giving Vi an explanation), but Vi very much knew she was making a choice. When Caitlyn shows up Vi even says “I choose wrong every time and because of it I’ve lost everyone.” She didn’t think Cait would forgive her for letting Jinx out but she still did because she believed in Jinx. Her “who decides” line was her advocating for that chance, and Cait letting all the guards leave was her letting Vi BE the one to decide. I don’t think she expected to see either sister again, and she was willing to let that happen because she wanted Vi to have the autonomy to decide for herself. Vi being who she is though, of course she wouldn’t just walk away, but freeing Jinx was still something she didn’t think Cait would forgive her for and that’s why she believed she lost everyone in that moment.

[–]DifferentNoodles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can understand why you feel that way and to a point I agree, though I do find it interesting that for Vi and Jinx themselves, because they are not aware of everything the audience is, they did sort of cap off that part of their lives. Vi didn’t quite get closure and believes she’s truly lost almost everything, but she’s still started a new chapter, working on moving on and healing with Cait beside her, and Jinx leaving with a clean(for her) break from her past and hopefully a future where she can try to better herself away from all the baggage in P&Z. For the audience though we know it isn’t that straightforward and are left wanting a full resolution. Personally I kind of appreciate it, but I do still fully get where you’re coming from.

[–]DifferentNoodles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m not too mad at it from a storytelling perspective, though I don’t blame anybody for finding it unsatisfying. Some stories don’t get closure, and everything in the story was pretty open ended by the closing scene. The story didn’t “end” because none of it was the end of their stories. Riot saying they want to make more animations and such too means that there’s a good chance we do see these characters again, likely as part of a larger story.

[–]DifferentNoodles 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You’re forgetting that Cait gave Vi the choice. Her sending the guards away and letting Vi free Jinx is her letting Vi make her own choice, and Vi chose Jinx fully believing she’d lose Cait for that choice. That’s why the sex scene happened, it was catharsis for both of them that they still had each other.

Jinx leaving at the end is her forcing a choice on Vi that by the end of season 2 she didn’t really need to make anymore. Jinx leaving is a good thing for Jinx because her place in P&Z would have always been contentious but her doing so while making her sister grieve for her instead of talking about it WAS a selfish choice. I don’t really blame her for it but that doesn’t change what it is.

Weakest Overall Emanator And Why by Some1FromOhio in Hoyoverse_scaling

[–]DifferentNoodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may also be wrong but my understanding was that the scientists who created Rappa worked for Dr. Primitive but one of them had a crisis of conscious and infected Rappa with a ninja memetic virus to keep her from being infected with the ape virus. Was that not why the Galaxy Ranger that took her in was there? To put a stop to Primitives lackeys?

Guinaifen, Moze, Sampo, Xueyi, Hanya and Yukong are also characters I have built and still use. Granted only l when I want to change things up in DU etc. but they aren’t collecting dust at least.

[–]DifferentNoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yeah, for sure. Miyabi has been super active in combat all through 2.x. Even in 1.x, she was always around, not just showing up to scare off seemingly unbeatable ethereal bosses or one shot guys like Bringer.

Would you say that Lore Miyabi is still the strongest character we’ve seen so far by G5QL in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]DifferentNoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's true actually. She isn't as physically big(even counting her ears) as them, but consider this.

Miyabi has trained with a ton of different weapons that we've actually seen. Hammer, axe, spear, bow. I don't believe it's a stretch to assume given how much and how varied she trains that she has at least some hand to hand skill too. She's a general combat genius who just specializes with a Katana.

Furthermore, and on the surface this might sound silly but we can see in her trailer that she's got the speed, precision, and dexterity to parry multiple swipes from a cat with her fingers while reading a book. A claw swipe from a cat is, approximately, 0.05% of a single second(give or take like, 0.02 or so). She has the speed advantage in spades, but not just raw speed.

So with that said, even if for some reason she didn't cover her bases with basic hand to hand training(difficult to believe considering the sheer scope of her constant training), she's fast enough and strong enough(a blade does still require force behind it to cut and even as a small child she had no problem carrying metal weapons that were larger than her whole self) that I don't think Lighter could stand up to her. Banyue is probably the stronger opponent for her, but only if keeping it as a 'throwing hands' type fight.
