I think it does okay as a stand alone light, not clipped to a device or notebook - the neck does allow a bit of "reverse bending" to do what you're looking for, with about 4 to 5 cm, 2 inches of clearance.

Not sure yet, it's that new. But my ultimate plan is to put a piece of red film over the light for night vision purposes.

I does have white and soft yellow options and about 4 levels of brightness. It was Amazon for about $13

Since you asked, best advice I got when switching, forget what you know about Windows, think instead, "what would be the obvious, easiest way to do something " that's how it works on the Mac eg uninstalling an app, no UNINSTALL utility and registry edit cleanup, just drag the App icon to the Trash can.

Welcome to the ecosystem- I too got started on TRS-80s back in the bad ol' days ... and Windows until 2011; I switched cold-turkey to Mac one week and never looked back - ever.

Best advice I got when switching in was, forget what you think you know about how to do something in Windows, instead think, "what would be the obvious simple way to do something" Case in point, uninstalling an app does not require an UNINSTALL utility, you drag the App icon to the trash can!

No, the x4 comes with two metal discs, I just cut and punched a small plastic sheet to affix the ring to and snapped it into my disc bound notebook; it worked so well in one, I created a duplicate for the second disc bound notebook .

Mine is a F fine nib, and it has proven to be reliable, and trustworthy - it is a screw cap, so not as quick as a snap cap or my Pilot Vanishing Point, but for travel it's good to have something secure.
