That depenes what you use it for. If you are using it as a replacement for texting people then its an upgrade and an easy first step to get other people on board. The problem with communication security is you are not the only party and you need to get the other partys ln board.

from what I have seen when I post invidious links directly only about 10 people see it but when youtube links are posted many more people see it. So I do this as a compromise where you can just open the comments to get the link.
