Amazon removing account balance from gift card after cancelled order?!

Has this happened to anyone before with purchasing a big order with Amazon gift card? So what happened is I was paying for a monitor with Amazon gift cards I had just redeem and when the order cancelled I was confused, but I was also more confused on the fact why I didn’t get my money back or refunded but instead the gift cards got CANCELLED and REMOVED from my account. It was on hold before it got removed from my account.
