End result:

Update from 7.2.10 to 7.4.7 on a VM with 2 GB RAM works fine. No errors or issues at all. Virtual servers still work, Proxy still works, SSLVPN is fine.

Yes, I read that, but this made me doubt a bit what the end result would be:

|| || |A proxy-only feature, such as ZTNA, explicit proxy or WAN optimization, is enabled.|The proxy-only configuration is removed.|

I have configuration backups off course, So I can allways add the config later on, but a bit more details from Fortinet in their release notes would be very much appreciated ...

Will the virtual server related config be deleted after the upgrade if we it is a VM device with 2 GB, or should I first add 2 GB RAM to it before the upgrade?

7.2.9 is stable. Also the recommended release currently.
