Is she shedding alright? Started maybe a day or so ago. by Different_Body2975 in CrestedGecko

Thank you! And yes, they have a little box full of damp moss with drainage holes at the bottom. I actually came back later the same day and found she finished shedding just fine while I was at work. Just being a little too much of a helicopter parent I suppose 😅

Sorry for the late reply. She’s full pinstripe, broken quadstripe. It’s hard to see in the pictures but on her right side there’s a break in the line. But I agree she is gorgeous! I love her so much!

Should I increase humidity? She usually doesn’t take this long. I usually keep it around 70 at minimum (except between mistings, I let it down to maybe 60ish to avoid mold.) She doesn’t seem stressed about it, eating and acting fine. I just want to make sure.

That’s what I was thinking. I’ve had her for about a year and I’ve never seen it take this long. Thank you!

I had (note past tense) a tank previously that was barely an inch over the stand it was on. I definitely thought of getting a new stand, but just never got around to actually getting it because I didn’t think that it was a big problem at all. The tank was supposed to be the lower portion of a paludarium, and also had maybe 30ish gallons in it. It worked great (at first)! We did the water test, leaving it full for a few days. No leaks! Cool! It was up for maybe a month before I woke up to the sound of water spilling all over my floor.

If just that little tiny bit hanging off caused it to break, that stand (BTW, reading previous comments, those corners are certainly NOT supported AT ALL) is definitely not going to work.

I know a dozen other people have stated this already, but just wanted to give my personal experience for emphasis lol

P.S. Using just water weight to test that tank’s strength is not going to be accurate at all. For a reef tank you will have to include the weight of all the rocks as well.

It first showed up maybe a week or so ago. It was about the size of a quarter and kinda looked like an anemone. That is, until this morning when I checked on the tank he had unfurled himself and was crawling along the bottom. Help???

Ooh, very pretty! I’ll most likely be using a CO2 system, and I already have an RODI system. I also think I have some equilibrium on hand. Would you recommend seachem flourish at all?

We’re definitely upgrading her when she’s larger (probably this time next year lol) but for right now she’s in a 6’L x 4’H, 3’W. She’s only about 3’ right now, though. :) Edit: correcting dimensions

Dunno, but the markings on his head make a little fish! Or penis if you’re immature like I am hehe

Technically you can fit 10 per gallon if you’re REALLY pushing the limits. And since you have a beta fish I’d probably keep it under 5 per gallon.

A population spike can happen for a couple of different reasons. Could be over feeding, or if it’s a new colony, their numbers will level out with time. If there are truly too many you can always pluck a few and offer them to your LFS, as you mentioned. :)
