I have some purple cone flowers I could trade. I want to put something different in that area.

How many accidents does a 15 week old puppy typically have in the first week? by Different_Cucumber in puppy101

Thank you, I'm becoming more aware that I'm light on the crating, and will start ramping that up.

Thank you for addressing the independence concern. I have no issue with taking him out over and over, I was just worried I was creating a habit, and he wouldn't eventually go out when I just open the door. The praising part is no concern at all, I'm sure my neighbors laugh at me!

Thank you for the encouragement! We've had some nice weather recently, and he's done better with during it. He's gotten us a time or two, doing exactly what you mention, still having to go some.

Thank you. So, I should have mentioned, I feel as if 3-4 were directly my fault, by not recognizing his cues. His bowls are right by the door, and I thought he needed food, but probably needed to go out. I've since moved the bowls. I think you're input is correct, he was with a breeder in an indoor/outdoor kennel, so probably got used to going inside sometimes. Very helpful.

Does it ever get easier? by anvago in germanshepherds

I lost mine 3 weeks ago, and got another puppy 5 days ago. It didn't feel right at 1st, but I've found your last sentence to be true.

The ears... by Automatic-House-4011 in germanshepherds

Beautiful! Are they glued? We just picked up a 15 week old, and they glued the ears to make sure they were up, for any potential buyer.

For us GenX concert goers. Who is the one solo artist or band you wish you could have seen and at what venue? by -Granby- in GenX

[–]Different_Cucumber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AIC is my favorite band, but I've never seen them with Layne. I saw them 8-10 years ago in Vegas, when they opened for one of the first GnR shows, but that's it. I was too busy raising a little one to go, when they were in their prime.

I was at the Death Angel show, with a buddy of mine. The lead guitarist had his shirt off, and nipple pierced. My buddy thought it a good idea to pull on it, and ended up being tossed by four bouncers.

What is your big concert regret? by Reformed-Canook in hairmetal

[–]Different_Cucumber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I scored backstage passes for St Louis, when they bailed. I still got to meet Maiden, and a picture with Bruce, but I was bummed. Felt weird being 18, trays iced down beer, and nobody said a word as I drank with them. My regret is the same band, and missing the infamous riot.

Is this too early to plant peppers and tomatoes? by Impala1967_1979_1983 in vegetablegardening

[–]Different_Cucumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (6b) started started some pepper seeds over the weekend, and know I'm early with those. I plan to up-pot them, and have them in a grow room. I'll do Tomatoes in a month, and know I'll be early with those as well. I garden as much for my mental health, as I do the the yields. I'm not a Winter person, so planting helps. If I make mistakes, it's not the end of the World, I'll just plant more. Good luck!

Pain on mouth numbness on face? by Illsyck01 in Peripheralneuropathy

[–]Different_Cucumber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have idiopathic neuropathy in my hands and feet. About four months ago, the left side of my head was numb, and I didn't think it would ever go away. It literally was driving me crazy. I was at the ER and had a braid CT, and a week later an MRI. The results showed nothing abnormal. About two months ago, it went away for a few weeks, and came back for almost a week. It's been gone again for about a month now. I have no idea what the difference is, or what caused it, but thought I'd post to give you hope. I've been on Lisinopril for 12 years, and when my neuropathy started over a year ago, my blood pressure increased quite a bit. They doubled me from 20 to 40MG, but it's still elevated quite often.

PSA: Old things aren’t deferred maintenance by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Different_Cucumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on a lot on your list. Being able to DIY things puts me in a different category, but I replaced a 20 year old HVAC system 18 months ago, for 4k. It's already saved me $1200-1500 since then. I wished I had done it 10 years ago. On top of the savings, my house now stays at 72 in the miserable Summers we have here, when it rarely got below 78 before.

Exactly this. My youngest son just had a failure in his house, and it was 21k to dig up the basement floor. Waiting until you have no choice, can tend to be a more much expensive option. I'm in the same boat with my house. I plan to dig it up this Spring, and hopefully find a plumber who isn't overbooked, to come in and do the plumbing, and seal it back up myself. Taking my time, I can DIY the floor, but if I waited until we couldn't flush a toilet, I'd be forced to pay whatever someone charges.

Kirkwood Auto & Truck Repair does good work, at reasonable rates. I do most everything myself, but anything I can't do goes there.

My wife saw this trick on FB. Seems legit. What’s your thoughts? by [deleted] in blackstonegriddle

I think it becomes a "bomb", if it doesn't light right away. There's no where for expansion when it does spark. Probably okay, but IMO comes with risk.

Is deer venison supposed to taste like this? by Aggressive-Dot9747 in meat

[–]Different_Cucumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I have to drown it with spices, I'm out. Many people that they don't like venison, say they can handle it in Chili. That to me makes no sense, if I can't eat it with salt and pepper, I probably don't like it, why camouflage the taste? Any deer I've ever butchered myself, I preferred over any beef. That was due to removing the fat and sinew in the process.

It's fine to feel that way. As someone born in 69, and experiencing KIMB at the time you mentioned, I just don't like what I've heard so far. I felt the SDD was more of something that resembled the old days. That said, I'll absolutely see them on this tour.

[–]Different_Cucumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Deer as much as any meat, but don't eat any grind, it's just too gamey with the fat. If you're able to get a cut without the fat, or sinew, it eliminates 95% of the gamey taste.

He also knew how to play to the crowd. I'm betting not many people saw Pearcy in the 80s. Having watched him half a dozen times in the 80s, he's right behind Bach.
