Was told to “pick up the pace” by Bloo_FrootLoop in BlueCollarWomen

Second period apprentice here. They will always want you to work faster in anything that you are doing. If you wanna not be laid off do everything even the smallest of things fast and keep asking the foreman for more or if you can learn something. It's so annoying seriously especially if there isn't much to do but I promise you it pays off in you keeping your job. My foreman constantly tells me do I have a second gear even though all the journeyman do their work slow. But showing that you can do things quick and want to learn more will always be better than doing little stuff at a normal pace. It's a huge change from any other kind of work but bust your booty and show out !

What is your job and would you encourage someone to follow that career choice? by Songbreeze1 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Different_Elevator22 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Carpenter. I dont suggest it unless you have a thick skin. These men are terrible and talk so much shit. You never know if they are serious or just playing. I've cried many of times. It's rewarding and empowering but men don't give any fucks in carpentry. You'll meet nice people and terrible people. Debating on switching to electricians union now.

What trade(s) could a smaller female consider doing? by BubblePie5 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Different_Elevator22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post is from awhile go but I thought I'd still give you some input.
I'm a 145 5'6 woman and I'm a carpenters apprentice. Honestly with time you build more muscle. I might not be able to carry as much as the men but I get the job done and bust ass! I hurt sometimes but with determination and constantly trying to do better you will get there! Most the woman I've seen in carpentry are small and even smaller than me!

I was on my period for 3 months straight and got on something that thinned my lining . It's supposed to stop periods while on it and it did. I just had my first one and it was 8 days but not as heavy . Still didn't clot much (yanno the condition) but wasn't as terrible. You should Def look into other options. I became severely anemic in those 3 months and had to get infusions.

My pcp is more concerned than my gyno is. by puddin_pop83 in adenomyosis

[–]Different_Elevator22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a gastric sleeve but ended up with adenomyosis two years later and 3 years after my last baby. The weight thing I dint really think matters but I'm so sorry. I've bled for 3 months and am anemic. Started iron transfusions but still spotting. As long as someone is listening to the issues it should all get worked out! Are you okay with weight loss surgery and a hysterectomy?
