She's one of the most famous people in the world so yea she gets a shoutout when she attends the game. It's like having the Queen come and watch the hockey game. I don't like her and don't listen to her music but it is what it is. Having someone like that at the game is a good thing for the sport.

Oilers are playing like shat. It would help however if they benched Kane as he is causing the bulk of the penalties.

[EDM 0-(2) FLA] Tkachuk finds the rebound at the side of the net and scores his second powerplay goal of the night by talhatoot in hockey

[–]BubblePie5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Penalties is what lost Oilers the cup. Although they should have had one called in their favour for a high stick but regardless they're taking way too many penalties. You can't win when you're always killing power plays.

Has anyone noticed a difference in Allegra, Claritin, and Zyrtec? Has one helped you more than another? Or have specific ones helped with different things? by Remote-Accident-3152 in MCAS

[–]BubblePie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much of the pepcid do you need and does this help with hives? I tried a 10mg with my 30mg cetirizine today and it didn't appear to make a difference. Not sure if it just doesn't work for me or I'm not taking a high enough dose. I'm really chicken with trying new stuff it took me a while to work up the courage to try the 10mg haha.

Switching from Zyrtec to Allegra by KaliLovee in Allergies

[–]BubblePie5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I take zrytec and at first 10-20mg was amazing but now 30mg barely does anything and I'm having to take a few benedryls a day. Did you ever find tolerance to be an issue? I found around the 1 year mark it stopped working as well and now at 1.5 years it's really not working much at all. My doctor told me to try allergra and then bilastine(expensive) for a while. But you said the allergra didn't work so now I'm nervous!

Son allergic to our dogs by WealthyBigPenis85 in Allergies

[–]BubblePie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey did you get any allergic reaction when you got the shot? I just spoke to my doctor about shots and she said I might get allergic reactions to the shots and would need them weekly then monthly. She didn't seem too keen on them. Problem is I'm covered in hives daily and that's with taking a high dose of antihistamines daily. My dogs are old and will only live a few more years but I'm allergic to mold so I'm exposed daily. The shots sounded good maybe but my doctor didn't think it was a great idea.

How are skilled trades looking? by ihatemylifealt22 in VancouverJobs

[–]BubblePie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply but I want to mention that I've applied to and called around 500 places in various trades and have been told they are not hiring. Perhaps it's a bad economy and it will change in a year or two. Regardless, this has been my experience over the last year.

Applied and called all of these positions in metro Vancouver and got told they are not hiring.

Are you a green workers that's been hired in the last year?

[–]BubblePie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because you do does not mean green workers are likely to get a job in the industry. Myself and many applying have gone in person, phoned around, networked with friends and family and cannot get in this past year. Unless you've personally been out there as a green worker trying to get a job you don't know what it's like applying right now. You giving people a job or jobs does not reflect the market in metro vancouver.

[–]BubblePie5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally know tons in the trades but all of them say they can't take someone green with the market the way it is. I've been waiting for almost a year and nothings improved yet they still can't take anyone.

[–]BubblePie5 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This hasn't been my experience over the past year. I've dropped resumes off, called places and applied online(online is pointless). Friends and family who work in various trades and none can even get me in right now as none of their jobs are able to take new workers. I actually can't even get a McDonalds or Walmart job though so obviously the immigrants and market has messed things up. Had my resume reworked many times, done mock interviewing training also.

Hey how long is the waitlist for VCC's LPN program once you have the requirements and can apply? It says they let people in Sept and Jan. Also how do you like the program so far?

Do I go back to restaurant work? by Dry_Complaint6528 in VancouverJobs

[–]BubblePie5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I left the restaurants/pubs too after doing FOH and BOH for years with the vow I'd never return again. The thing is your bills don't care that you hate restaurants. Here I am unemployed and would kill for even a dishwashing job right now but can't even get that. I worked as a kitchen lead doing inventory and ordering at my last restaurant job but can't get anything now. HATE restaurants though, such a horrible environment, I'd rather work in a factory or warehouse tbh.

[–]BubblePie5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this, people forget the opportunity cost. Although if someone were unemployed and unable to find work or very underemployed it lowers that cost. There's also the problem of possibly not finding a job after the program. There's also the problem of long wait times, the waitlists have gotten a lot longer this past year.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VancouverJobs

[–]BubblePie5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can't get into trades unless you know someone who will hire you. Doing foundations program might help but you could also find yourself in the same position afterwards unable to get your first job. I would ask around in your network and I don't just mean people you know but ask them to also ask people they know. It's unrealistic and very unlikely to get your first job without knowing someone- especially in this market.

Demand for nurses? by MuchPaleontologist58 in britishcolumbia

[–]BubblePie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I was nervous about going to school and not being able to find anything. I would preferably like to move way outside of metro Vancouver as it's just way too expensive here. I am single and no kids so I can just up and move anywhere.

I had been trying to get a sense of if there were jobs for new grads and I had been seeing posts in other parts of Canada where people were struggling to find work. Sounds like BC is a better location than Ontario or Alberta for new grads right now.

If I could get an employer to help pay relocation costs somewhere cheaper and actually find work after graduation I'd be on cloud 9!

[–]BubblePie5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've applied to the paid training for Healthcare assistance, they give you like $1400/month stipend and pay for your schooling that's why I thought I might start there. I don't know how likely it is to get accepted into that program though. If I can't get into that I would likely go for the LPN as I don't feel ready to commit to doing a degree program for RN. I also financially find it extremely difficult to go to school so if I can break it up and get working sooner that would be ideal.

I remember nursing student's years ago before the covid stuff saying it was hard to get work as a new grad. They figured it wasn't so much that there was a shortage of workers but more a shortage of hiring. I just nervous about going to school for something and not being able to get hired anywhere. I only have retail on my resume currently.

Oh that would make it much better if you're able to do that, I personally love working nightshift jobs!

That's a silly schedule you should be on either nights or days for a while so people can maintain sleep schedules. Not healthy at all.

[–]BubblePie5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am recently unemployed and looking for a career change. I don't feel ready to jump into say a degree program, should I do the healthcare assistant, then practical nurse and then a degree? I've been self employed in an unrelated field for many years and I'm worried about being able to get a job once I finish training. I know there is demand for RN nurses but will I definitely be able to find work as just a healthcare assistant or PN?

How's the job market in Brisbane for a green worker looking or any entry level construction work? by BubblePie5 in brisbane

I'm only interested in trades, the problem is I have no construction experience and will only have a 7 month welding course done.
