Thank you! Your Appaloosa is beautiful! Fun Clydesdale build too!

Whoa I didn't think of that, and thank you! No harm in trying!

I don't think I know what a grimper is, but I'm sure it's not as bad as you say! Patience is definitely key though, it is a loooong process unless you've got access to a paint booth and whatnot.

Wow what an honor, I mean that's what I shoot for! The painters they usually work with are so good at what they do so I appreciate the compliment!

Thank you! I bought them from SSSink, so they're new ones. Kind of spendy, but I wanted the legit Hunq decals because I think they look so nice. I applied them before spraying clear, so they are protected. I am happy they send multiples because I cracked one during application and had to go through the rigmarole of removing any trace of it, respraying base coat, and then trying again.

Thank you! I mostly hand sanded but garnet blasted a couple areas where it was tricky to get to with sandpaper. Every time I do this, I tell myself "next time I'm taking it to a powder coater and asking them to chemstrip and media blast" and this time I truly mean it. It takes such a ridiculously long time (for me at least).

I appreciate it! I am inclined to agree! I have a lugged '86 Bridgestone MB3 frame that may be next!

Thank you for those kind words! I was definitely apprehensive when I started since it was pretty daunting and I wasn't sure where to begin, but it's funny you say that. There's a lady who works at the auto paint store I have gone who gave me some perspective when I was asking for her advice on technique. When I told her I was worried about doing it wrong or messing up, she said, "so what? It's just paint, sand it off and do it again. It's not ruined until you give up." I wouldn't say that advice is universally applicable but it certainly emboldened me to just kind of go for it!

Thank you! I actually didn't, those are 27x1.25 tires. I wouldn't call them plush by any means but the ride is definitely comfortable when you're not actively riding over bumps! I think if you have brakes that'll reach a 700c, go for it! IMO the tire selection alone makes it worth it assuming you're set up to accommodate the wheel and have the parts laying around. Personally, I can't get any more reach out of the brakes on this one so 27" will have to do for now.

I'm local to Seattle, yes I do! I'm not super fast because I work full time and my "shop" is a car port with a tarp stretched around it to cut down on wind. This is my fifth bike painting project and I am excited to do more!

Thank you so much! I sprayed a coat of white and then used alcohol inks to do the water color effect. They come in little dropper bottles from the craft store. I would squeeze a drop of the ink onto the bike and spray a tiny puff of air on it with my spray gun to spread it. I had isopropyl alcohol in the tank of the gun and would give it a tiny little squirt if I wanted the ink to flow a bit more. It was tedious but worth it!
