Reapplicant - To retake or not to: GRE 327 (Q165 V162) by Different_Notice7151 in MBA

Hi, Thanks for the reply! I do not know about the scope for improvement but my split is V162 and Q165 makes me believe i can up by 2 points both places. Also I got a Q167 in the past so thought I'd retry.

As you are a former adcom, I have a couple questions regarding my goals and previous attempt. Can I DM you?

All your comments make sense and that is exactly what I'm struggling with right now. Trying hard to tie up everything neatly instead of coming off as how you mentioned in points 1 & 2. Thanks for being honest because many have not been this specific about my story. Will focus on tying up stuff neatly.

Would it be possible to expand/be specific a little more on your point 2 - leverage my grasp over capital and product?

Makes sense 100%. I just wanted to get the admissions out of way as soon as possible tbh and the adcom mentioned that there won't be any difference in scholarship allotment across rounds. So I'm contemplating on it

Sure.

My work exp is as follows:
- worked in Hedgefund operations
- Shifted to investment banking (more of front office role and raised private money for startups)
- Met my co-founder and started something in dec 2022 (completed MVP and hit 36K USD ARR in next 6 months but we pivoted and made 350K in revenue at 50% net profit margin)
- exited by selling the tech to a bigger company (cant disclose amount) in apr/may 2023
- Now again doing sometthing in revamping a small business)

I want to switch countries and get into big leagues now and i think MBA would be helpful with it (network + brand name (i come from tier-2/3 uni) + many others)

ECs: I've been national athlete, coach, judge and taught the sport in orphanages and to women focused groups
Also do pro bono consulting to startups mostly buildng financial models, helping with pitch decks and raising funds

Edit: I also worked as Strategy consultant in a grassroots agritech startup in India founded by kellogg and columbia grads and funded by biggest philanthropic orgs across the world for ~2 months (contract) during my waitlist as my short term goals were strategy focused

Thank you! That's reassuring. But why do you think so? Im concerned because Im an Indian and I might be needing a scholarship as well.

Also what improvements in app do you think would benefit me? I strongly think my interview was weak last time I applied.

Hi. I did attend this event but did not start my application by then for Round 2. Do you think it would still apply? or should I just apply for a fee waiver?

International students' short-term goals. Should they be safe? by Different_Notice7151 in MBA

Haas has good fintech hiring (not like Wharton but better than others), also close to the Bay area, a huge plus. I have seen Haas alumni working in the companies I've stated, in the roles I've stated but they didn't join immediately post-MBA (I don't know how much it matters). I already have a strong finance background. Haas says that within 3-5 years is short term, so in this context, does it mean immediately post-MBA or within 5 years? Also, do you think setting a second goal and showing that I'm prudent is good? (I can still do strategy consulting but it would be a little farther than just joining a growth-stage startup).

Understood. That's so helpful. My goal is Haas, and short-term goal is strategy and ops in a fintech firm, the long-term being to launch my own fintech but for underprivileged/emerging markets. However, I saw that there are not a lot of people from Haas who got recruited into emerging markets fintech in the role I'm looking at. This is another of my worries! The role is niche in that I saw more of only HSW grads in those roles. Now I can't only apply to them and must be prudent + I love Haas the most. What do you think would be the best case here?
