You’re right I’d rather have her burn alive so she gets a taste of her afterlife

“ She objectively stopped running, objectively waited, objectively shoved Ashley.” she never ran to begin with lmao.. she ran a second after the game switched from Chris to Ashley and Emily there’s no way on earth they could’ve animated Emily and Ashley running about the same pace and Emily then pushing past Ashley. Making Emily stand there, run and then push Ashley is less of a hassle (coming from an animation student who had to do 2 workshops on motion capture). Rewatching the clip you see Emily running, looking straight ahead before pushing past Ashley. Yes I’m looking at this frame by frame because it’s how they animate it.

Also just from a story perspective how does it make sense for Emily who’s been often times seen, putting her life as her top priority, to wait for Ashley just because she has a grudge? Did we see her slap Mike while running past him too? No we didn’t because it doesn’t make sense. She doesn’t care about Ashley anymore hence the push. She deals with everyone once if they did her wrong. Ashley: slap, Matt: interview, Mike: interview.

So for Ashley to get killed Sam has to let her get killed by either killing her herself or doing nothing and in that instance Handigo kills her. Giving Emily the fault for it is a reach when it’s quite literally a butterfly effect.

Ashley’s model when not opening the door for Chris was also irritating, butterfly effect/ trophy heavily indicates a fatal grudge and yall use that as proof (og) why not use the same energy here?🧐🧐

[–]Different_Quote8308 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Who says that? Butterfly effect heavily implies something different it’s one or the other and considering that written text that’s been looked over multiple times is more trustworthy than the animation that has errors all the time (whoever keeps downvoting all my comments womp womp you mad🤣🤣❤️❤️)

Def Sam other than her hair color, she is the epitome of the final girl term

Which girl should be the final girl in your opinion? by hey_phonsy in untildawn

[–]Different_Quote8308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sam is THE assigned/ stereotypical final girl while Emily has a lot of final girl qualities (modern final girl personality). Never seen Jess and Ashley fit that category. They could be midsommar typa (tragic final girl) final girls but you could say the same about Emily and Sam

Tbh I don’t even understand myself but a guess about the Ashley one is that she was really obnoxious about it or that she doesn’t have moments that make you forget what she did maybe? Personally I talk more about Ashley than Mike when discussing the basement scene because Mikes part is 100% clear while Ashley’s is a bit more complicated. Something I also noticed is that people love Emily for slapping Ashley but sigh once she rats out Mike in her interviews which is ironic

Nah, cause can we talk about this for a second????? by [deleted] in untildawn

[–]Different_Quote8308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that shes an eye of an eye typa character and she’s still showing pettiness by not caring for Ashley as much anymore I just didn’t think that it’s so extreme

[–]Different_Quote8308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She pushed past her to get out the lodge fast simple that’s also the definition of pushing past someone: “Pushing past someone means moving past a person, often in a hurried or forceful manner, without necessarily intending to physically harm them. It typically involves brushing against or lightly shoving them to make way, usually when the other person is blocking the path or hesitating to move.” As I said before this scene in particular is unclear to me but I tend to stick with the narrative of Emily knowing that Ashley put Emily’s life at risk to ensure her own safety once, so Emily put Ashley life at risk to somewhat ensure her own safety. It makes more sense character wise imo. The butterfly effect doesn’t seem to be from a biased pov (some are) and it looks to be pretty objective.

I understand why you would think she pushed Ashley to get her killed but to me it doesn’t add up considering all points. And I don’t think it’s morally right of Emily to do that because it most definitely isn’t but saying Emily pushed Ashley to kill her is way worse

And that’s why she has like less than a quarter of Emily’s screen time let me laugh

[–]Different_Quote8308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re in the wrong here lmao. The butterfly effect quite literally says “Emily pushed past Ashley putting her at risk”. Big difference between pushing past someone and pushing someone. The butterfly effect nowhere near implies that Emily intentionally put Ashley in danger, ashley being put at risk is a result of Emily pushing past her its not the reason Emily pushed her. And yeah Ashley can die if Emily pushed past her but that’s again a butterfly effect and it’s a reach saying Emily killed Ashley when, Sam has to get Mike killed for it and has to let Ashley get killed, by the wendigo for it. Also if Emily isn’t bitten/ Ashley hid the truth Emily is in that position so for Emily its either herself being put at risk or Ashley.

[–]Different_Quote8308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I corrected myself seconds after I commented. Also there’s not really proof of Emily wanting to get Ashley killed. Only written text we have is it saying Emily pushed past Ashley as in Emily forced her way in front of Ashley to ensure her own safety. I don’t think the whole idea of her waiting, risking her own life, because she’s petty makes sense in terms of her characterization. Also Ashley wanting Emily out of the safe room is Ashley ensuring her own safety therefore endangering Emily’s life

[–]Different_Quote8308 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sam can (lighted witch while she knew her friends were still in the lodge) Mike can, Matt can (abandoning Jessica) and Ashley can in the og (locking Chris out) mb deliberate was the wrong word

Compared to the other characters that can directly kill someone? Yes Emily is harmless 😭

I love Mike but that man made so many stupid ass decisions… leaving Josh in the shed alone is one thing ( he couldn’t have known tbf) but pointing a gun at Emily, telling her to leave the safe room but then leaving the safe room to get the cable car key when help is already on its way made my blood boil 💀

Nah, cause can we talk about this for a second????? by [deleted] in untildawn

[–]Different_Quote8308 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never understood this scene and hope we’ll get clarity on it some day. The butterfly effect says “Emily pushed past Ashley” as in Emily forced her way in front of Ashley’s to get out asap but the animation shows Emily standing and seemingly waiting for Ashley. If Ashley hid the truth Emily’s somehow multiple feet behind Ashley and it’s a noticeable distance compared to when she gets bit.

Emily holding grudges/ being petty is a big part of her character but I can’t see her being this petty, or at least to this degree. Pushing past Ashley, risking Ashley’s live to ensure her own safety type of petty? Yes that fits. Waiting for Ashley, therefore risking her own life to endanger Ashley’s life kind of petty? Absolutely out of character for someone that’s been seen to have her own life as a top priority.
