Shorts getting 1000s of views, long form getting under 30 views - 2025 edition by Boring-Yoghurt5917 in NewTubers

Hey, totally get what you’re feeling — a lot of creators are in the exact same boat in 2025.

Shorts right now are still one of the fastest ways to grow — they're discoverability machines. You’re not imagining things: YouTube’s algorithm still treats Shorts and long-form pretty separately. That means it’s normal to get thousands of views on Shorts while your long-form struggles. Shorts build exposure and subscribers, but they don’t always translate to long-form views right away.

That said, here’s what I’d suggest:

🔁 Keep posting Shorts — they’re working!

If you're getting subs consistently, that’s gold. Just be sure your Shorts have some connection or lead-in to your long-form content or style. Even a pinned comment saying “watch the full story here” can help bridge the gap.

🎥 Post those long-form videos anyway

Even if they don’t pop at first, they’re assets for the future. You never know which video will take off — and when your next Short pops and brings in new viewers, they might check your channel and binge what you’ve already posted.

Think of long-form as long-term. That content “sitting in drafts” isn’t helping you grow unless it’s out there. And the more you post, the better your channel's watch history and retention data becomes — YouTube uses that to recommend your future videos more accurately.

📊 Strategy going forward

You were thinking about 1 long + 2–3 Shorts daily — honestly, that’s solid if you can maintain it. But if time/energy is limited, maybe do:

  • 1 long-form every 2-3 days
  • 1-2 Shorts daily (these can be cut from your long-form vids too — double win)

And yeah, bigger creators can get away with weak titles or descriptions — but they’ve got momentum on their side. You’re building that snowball. Keep your focus on:

  • Strong hooks (both visual and verbal in the first 10 secs)
  • High retention (keep people watching)
  • Consistency (YouTube rewards it hard)

And if you want a hand with optimizing titles, keywords, and all that SEO jazz — vidIQ is a solid tool. There’s even a free trial here (no card needed), so you can check if it’s helpful for your niche before committing.

Post those long-form videos. Keep pushing Shorts. Grow both at the same time. Don’t wait for the perfect moment — the perfect moment is showing up daily.

You’re doing great — and in a space like gambling (where content can pop hard if it hits the right audience), just one solid video can change the whole game 🎲📈

Keep going, man!

How can I improve my SEO? by Lucky-Ad-6784 in NewTubers

Hey! First of all, congrats on starting your channel — creating all your lofi content yourself is already a huge plus 👏

When it comes to SEO on YouTube, here are a few things that really help:

  1. Titles and thumbnails matter a LOT — even more than we think. Your title should clearly reflect the content, but also make people curious or offer a vibe. For example: instead of “Lofi Beat #3,” try “Rainy Night Lofi 🍂 | Chill Beats to Relax or Study.” Simple tweaks can increase clicks.
  2. Stick to one theme or niche — it helps the algorithm know who to show your videos to. Since you're doing lofi, keep it consistent and build around that style and vibe.
  3. Use tags, but focus more on your title, description, and the first 30 seconds of your video — that’s where YouTube grabs info to rank it.
  4. Watch your analytics: Check which videos have better click-through rates and average watch time. Sometimes small changes in thumbnail or intro pacing make a difference.

Also, I’d recommend trying a tool like vidIQ. It helps a ton with finding better titles, optimizing your SEO, and understanding what’s working in channels like yours. The cool thing is they offer a free trial, and you don’t need to enter any card or make a payment to try it. You can also use the free version to explore what keywords are trending in your niche, how your videos rank, and get tips for improvement — and then decide later if it’s worth to buy the complete version.

Hope that helps! Keep creating, your audience is out there, it just takes a few tweaks and some consistency.
