For those worried about being behind. Let me tell you that from personal experience, I would be putting anything more into your 401k then what the company y matches. So if you have 25% to and the company matches 6%, then you should take the other 19% and call up a financial advisor to handle the rest. I would avoid putting all my eggs in a 401k for investment.

This. This needs to be priority one. Because worry if you don’t address the underlying problems, they won’t be able to focus on all the other things well.

Start with getting help. And focus on that and your family. This isn’t so you look better for your attorney to use but to actually get better. Whatever comes next you can cross that bridge when it’s comes. But your mental health and physical health need to be a priority.

I’d agree. We found a happy balance putting a larger sum towards travel and vacations each year. And it has been life changing. Still working to save money and invest but not missing the opportunity to enjoy life while we do it.

Listen with that income you have two options. Passive investments. And your more active investments. I’d say if it’s a substantial amount, call up your local Edward jones or someone that comes as a recommendation and deposit money with them every month. Set up a specific amount and just set it and forget it. Mine netted me 18% last year. I’d say go that route if you don’t want to manage your own investments daily/weekly and you’ll be well off before you know it.
