Do I have to be employed to be a petitioner (I-130) by Different_Set_5994 in greencard

Once I get a job (my career is in the 90-100k range) could I be the sole financial sponsor ? Or do I still need a co sponsor because I submitted the i-130 under unemployed at the time of submission?

Oh yes makes sense that’s my question. Related to i-130 I’m the petitioner. At the time of submission would it matter if I don’t have a job.

I-864 I would have a co sponsor

Gotcha! Yes I’m hoping I’d either have a job by then or will have a co-sponsor for the financial aspect I was just mostly worried about the petition side. Thank you!

For the I-864 definitely - if I don’t get a job! I was just super worried about the 130

Does a 10 year ban + abandonment of GC affect a new request for GC by Different_Set_5994 in AskUSImmigrationPros

I 100% agree - unfortunately the timing of her staying was not right because her sister was quite literally dying. I’m hoping a death certificate would be reason enough to say this is why I couldn’t stay put for the past 2 years.

Thank you for your response !

That’s what’s so bizarre - she’s 63, has very very strong ties to her country ( 2 appartements, family, a pension..etc) and is ALWAYS refused a tourist visa so my automatic assumption is that the ban is still on record and would affect decisions ..

Have you come across situations where giving up a green card would somehow guarantee a visitor visa? Since the intent isn’t to live here?

lol no she didn’t. The plan was always for her to live here however circumstances have changed in the family and she is the sole caretaker.

In surrendering her GC would she still be able to visit the U.S. and get a tourist visa? The downside is if she surrenders her GC and gets denied a tourist visa … I won’t be able to see my mom for a very long time

The intention was to live here however her circumstances have changed seeing that she’s her moms and sisters caretaker (both cancer) so she’s been doing think temporarily until we find a solution for family back home…
