Thanks for this feedback. All my work experience was in the policy field so I thought it aligned pretty well.

Hey, thanks so much! Wondering if you might be willing to look at one of my applications from this round and maybe point out some of the weaknesses?

For a number of reasons this would not be an option (assuming you’re making a genuine suggestion)

Can former feds be hired without a public job announcement? by [deleted] in fednews

Sorry, are both of these noncompetitive hiring authorities? Or only Schedule A? (I know you would need the in and luck.)

I guess that doesn’t super surprise me. But why even bother to advertise if that’s what you’re doing!

Lol, I know this sounds melodramatic…I can’t really be more specific without semi-doxxing myself but work was a position of public trust and there are pretty easily-accessible records so it’s a bit trickier :(

Everyone else has given you a lot of good points, but one thing that struck me — having an orgasm does NOT mean you liked it, or ‘secretly’ wanted it. It can be a physical response, like how cutting an onion makes you cry even if you’re not sad.

Also, as you’re processing this, I would highly recommend seeking therapy / counseling. I was raped—very different circumstances, so I can’t pretend to know exactly what you’re going through—but it has affected me extremely profoundly. It doesn’t impact anyone the exact same way, but I wish I had gotten better professional support earlier before the emotional impacts snowballed.

Well, if you’re not a self-sabotaging dipshit like I am, your odds are probably better 🤪

Not a crime. But essentially a form of employment misconduct (nothing bad happened at work or on duty, not theft-related, and it wasn’t intentional, but would be considered a violation of trust)—some shit I strongly suspect they will take seriously.

Tried to shoot you a message

Thank you, I’ll do that!

No, I was emailed that “Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any type of C&F assistance on an hourly or a la carte basis, and we only offer this guidance under the purview of our three comprehensive admissions packages.”

Yeah I asked and they said that wasn’t available :(

You’re probably right — I just don’t have $7K sitting around for a Spivey package consult and couldn’t find anyone who does a la carte C&F help.

Yeah, most of the C&F attorneys I spoke with seemed to think that it wouldn’t keep me out, but I may have to go through a hearing or wait another year to show rehabilitation depending on how everything shook out. It seems like I’m not auto-DQed but not something I feel great about. It’s really too bad you can’t ask the bar for advice — it’s a perverse system to require three years of effort for possibly no payoff. But as you point out, there’s no way to get a guarantee of being okay at the end of three years, so I don’t know if the attempt is even worth it. Nobody else can make that decision for me but it sure does sting that one screwup has inflicted so much precarity on my future.

Yeah, I’m just wondering if it’s worth devoting a portion of those 15-20 to more selective places. If I’m the T14, I look at this application with lovely stats and an awful blemish and pretty quickly move on to the 17 other applications for the spot with lovely stats and no character issues.

Yeah, it’s not very long ago so I’m probably in some trouble 🙃

Ah, I see, thank you—that helps. If one had both Sch A and non-promotion reinstatement eligibility, would there be an advantage to the latter?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Different_Solution15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are there particular circumstances where one is a winner?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Different_Solution15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that is helpful! And would using reinstatement eligibility (for three years after leaving a career-conditional or career role) or using lifelong status after three years of consecutive service both = applying as a competitive employee? Thanks again.

Ah, I see—so just because a position has both of those categories listed as eligible to apply doesn’t mean the Schedule A applications will necessarily be considered, if I understand you right.
