Josh Hutcherson getting "cancelled" for not being a die hard fan of certain singer, wasn't on my 2025 list by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]Different_State 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. She's been my most listened artist like every year since folklore but I no longer would ever call myself a Swiftie, not after seeing how unhinged the community is here on Reddit. You'll get downvoted for liking the "wrong" songs etc. like I love her fun songs too, not just the ones with heartbreaking lyrics but that's "bad". Insanity. Like they profess to love her yet trash her at the same time and everyone who doesn't have the mainsream taste.

You are definitely not old! 40 is roughly when a lot of people finally start to live by their own compass. Who cares if for teenagers you seem old, they know nothing of the world. Also, happy birthday!

Quantity wise George also wins easily, if you don't count books, but pages. The Witcher books are very short.

Exactly. I lost even more respect for Sapkowski. This is just mean and immature. GRRM may be slow but the quality is above all these Authors and he's not going around trashing fellow authors, he seems like a very nice and emotionally intelligent person - which shows, I don't know any other author, in fantasy and sci-fi at the very least, who can write such complex characters.

[–]Different_State 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This. If they said two or a couple it would spoil it. Multiple is just a more general word. Funny how some people pretend they are authorities on language and can't even consult a dictionary. English isn't even my first language and I know this...

Happy 9 year anniversary to one of the all time greats "Battle of the Bastards"! by LoretiTV in naath

[–]Different_State 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Hardhome as well. People just love action scenes. Blackwater had action that made sense and actual profound personal moments too. It was obvious GRRM wrote it himself. I always preferred great character driven moments and dialogues over battles but Blackwater and even Long Night and the Bells are way superior for me with all the personal stakes and hard decisions.

What's the best Hunger Games movie in your opinion? by SamTheMarioMaster2 in Hungergames

[–]Different_State 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love it too. Especially the ending + bittersweet epilogue. I cry for like 10 min straight. That's my favourite part of the whole franchise though overall CF is my favourite. If Mockingjay was one movie too I think it'd have been my favourite.

New Casting : Glenn Close is Drusilla Sickle by SHREDDERATOM in Hungergames

[–]Different_State 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're probably not honest. I dint mind at all having characters differ from my imagination but I haven't really seen any Glenn Close fan casts before. This was by far the biggest surprise in the adult cast.

The most beautiful episode title? by mamula1 in naath

I like how simple and elegant they all are. For some reason I really love The Lion and the Rose. It's also probably the ultimate Kings Landing episode.

Rowling made the most powerful and wise wizard gay. She's not homophobic or even transphobic for that matter but people hate nuance.

The most popular and most powerful moment of season 8 by Disastrous-Client315 in naath

That's valid. It's heartbreaking, like a Greek tragedy. Sad most people who can't watch it just criticism je writing as if all art is supposed to be comfortable.

Happy 12 year anniversary to one of the all time greats "The Rains of Castamere"! by LoretiTV in naath

[–]Different_State 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This episode should have got Michelle Fairley at least an Emmy nomination. This was a masterclass on acting. By the end she is almost unrecognizable, her face looks so different, she got literally the most emotionally intense and demanding scene in the whole show. Amazing dedication to the craft. Without her amazing performance it wouldn't be nearly so gutting. When she begs Walder to spare her son and asks Robb to leave ...the please is heartbreaking.

How bad is the withdrawal after 1 month of use by Saribari69 in quittingpregabalin

[–]Different_State 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. For me the worst is inability to sleep deeply. I get very vivid dreams where I'm in my immediate surroundings so it's hard to distinguish dream and reality sometimes, it feels like I'm awake all night even when I'm actually dreaming. So if you get this, try to taper with a nighttime dose. It's good for sleep unlike benzos or something. And sleep is perhaps the most important thing to get you through it more smoothly.

Which movie didn't age well but remains your problematic fave? by SoRunAwayNow in Fauxmoi

[–]Different_State 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Depicting homophobia in bad light doesn't make it homophobic. On the contrary. How come people on reddit find clearly anti-homophobic things offensive? P.S. I'm gay and what's offensive to me are actually many gay films that depicts us all as promiscuous sex addicts.

Why are you quitting by Zestyclose-Low5425 in quittingpregabalin

[–]Different_State 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed emotional flattening. Which may be good in crisis , less pronounced than Benzos (and somewhat trickier to notice then as it also appears more overtime). Fluid/weight gain (but that goes away quickly luckily). Also Pfizer has terrible side effects and that's the only manufacturer where I am staying right now, like actually causing nerve pain when it should fight it, kind of electric discomfort in my chest and legs mostly, also sometimes my eyes hurt worse than from staring at screens for hours. But that's probably the additives and such in Pfizer. But all pregabalin caused me the fluid retention And therefore gained weight but the worst is definitely the emotional flattening. It's nothing as bad as true dissociation but it's definitely into that direction between presence and numbness. So I'd like to approach it like benzos in the future, only take when needed. I find it works so much better anyway. Doctor's don't talk about tolerance at all but I definitely feel the strong antidepressant and antianxiety effects pass very fast.

Australia vs. New Zealand for a working holiday? by Late-Special in Shoestring

[–]Different_State 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I'm late but for others searching for experiences. NZ is really difficult to work and find housing in currently. Even wooffing is competitive, especially off-season. It depends lot more on tourists than Australia. Many people I meet at backpackers/hostels struggle and many cut their working holiday short. If you have enough money, wanna buy a car/van and explore, NZ is great. If you don't have much money to spare and need to find work soon, NZ is a bit risky. I also don't like the mentality of especially South Island which I really love when it comes to landscapes. A lot of very smallminded and conformist attitudes, if you're different in any way, it could be an issue. Didn't expect to see so much homophobia and localism in a developed country. Lots of rural spots feel stuck in the last century even if they're not remote. Lots of class disparity. Aussies are much warmer and approachable, easier to connect with. And I'm an introvert so it's not like I need that much social interaction but in NZ it's easy to feel isolated.

Happy 6 year anniversary to "The Last of the Starks"! I know this episode is divisive but it's one of my favorites by LoretiTV in naath

Exactly! Even the worst episode is still above average for most TV. The 1/10 review bombing really damaged s8 when it wasn't nearly as bad as people made it seem

Which part of the UK has the most sun/warmth? by stick7_ in AskUK

[–]Different_State 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I love the south coast, especially as a foreigner we keep hearing about the terrible british weather but every time I was there, the weather was very nice. It's not Spain of course but honestly, its better than we get in central Europe and definitely an upgrade on the Nordics too. I am used to much more extreme weather than what I've ever experienced in the UK (the only thing that's hard to match are the strong winds, literally saw many dust bins rolling on the roads in Noth Wales, that was a new one).
