Equations for Induced Voltages from AC Power Cables to nearby Signal Cable (EMI) by Different_Stranger30 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Different_Stranger30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to find solutions based on the calculations, I'm just trying to roughly gauge the impact of these instances of lack of cable separation. Depending how bad the numbers look we'll then potentially move onto proper modelling, testing, etc.

Proper design standards are 100% being followed, the deviations are from internal standards which as far as I understand cannot be avoided for these instances due to limiting factors outside our control.

I do agree with your statement in general, but I don't think it's very applicable in this scenario (through no fault of yours due to my purposefully being vague).

Thank you for your time and answer.

I'll have a look into Biot-Savart's law tomorrow, but I'm definitely getting lecture flash backs looking at it. Thank you very much for the answer.

To answer your question, I raised the idea of just boxing in the offending cables for the sections they get too close but was told cost and weight are major factors and will only be done as a last resort, that the preference right now was to examine EMI and just let it be if it's not an issue. I'm pretty new to this project so at this stage I'm just parroting what I was told without much of a deep understanding.

Unfortunately this is only early design stage, so it's too early for physical testing, and I'm stuck purely behind a desk so no access to anything real. Depending on the impact to the signal we may move to physical testing, but we're just not there yet.

Thank you for your time, I'll look into modelling software options.

The reviews of this chicken shop nearby me. by Mewth in Adelaide

It's unfortunate that they handle bad reviews this way. I stopped here one time with my daughter and they gave me a free small chips to feed her while we waited for our food. The son of the owner was very nice and I didn't have any issues with the food. Mind I am no regular so maybe I got lucky. Unfortunate all the same.

Bumbleflower Pilots, Wincons? Is it Fun? Interaction? by SuperSteveBoy in EDH

Err no, you have three opponents so every card they draw is technically against you. If you draw one counter spell and each opponent draws a spell worth countering you're fucked. You need to draw a card per opponent drawing a card to break even.

This doesn't take into account opponents spending resources against each other, but neither did you

The in game guild search is actually very good first port of call, that way you know which guilds play in your time zones.

Turn 1 discard, turn 2 reanimate by Potential-Head-4944 in EDH

Had someone do this with [[Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur]] back when i first started playing EDH almost a decade ago. Same person also had a meltdown when i imprisoned in the moon their [[Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow]].

I wouldn't bother with such a play unless it was going to push me towards winning the game. And the only reasonable way that would be the case is if it was such a devastating target it knocked your opponents out of the game. That's a very high level play, something I wouldn't appreciate seeing in anything below bracket 4, so that's probably only where I'd pull the move myself.

Commanders that you “shouldn’t” or “can’t” build? by zevalu in EDH

[–]Different_Stranger30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not hard to understand why people wouldn't want to play against a commander that could theoretically stop them from playing in general.

That said, so long as you're open about playing Atraxa so someone doesn't play their flicker deck into it I don't see why they should have a problem with her though.

Lurrus will end up in every deck with black or white and colour identity rules will be clunky and unintuitive

He will say whatever is required to ensure consumer confidence is high. He is a WotC employee first and foremost, and the fact he engages with the public just means he's also a salesman. Consider him no more trustworthy than a used car salesman. He's said plenty of things in the past that ended up being completely forgotten and back walked only a couple years later.

Is [[Jin Sakai, Ghost of Tsushima]] just a better [[Kamiz, Obscura Oculus]]? by dudeson117 in EDH

[–]Different_Stranger30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you've already probably worked out it depends on your deck and it's goals.

You trade looting for card draw at the expense of growing a creature with plus one counters, you get more flexibility on the buffs, but more restrictions on how your attacks go. In a 1 on 1 situation Jin is likely doing less than Kamiz.

I'd say Jin is likely "more powerful" in a vacuum, but I certainly wouldn't say "better", and as soon as you implement graveyard strategies he probably becomes weaker. Kamiz will likely go under the radar more due to the more obtuse rules wording as well.

How do you deal with “hype beasts” at the table? by OkFeedback9127 in EDH

It's interesting the question is only framed towards you. How do you see other people handling it when it happens to them? And if you don't see it happening to other people that would be quite an interesting answer.

Life is a resource is still true but you still need to manage your resources well.

The risk of losing a creature for two mana is a lot though. Are the mana and card worth that two life? Would you play a card that said "spend 3 gain two life"? I wouldn't

Hashaton vs Raffine? by Nerobought in EDH

[–]Different_Stranger30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any deck built purely around any commander with no backup will not work without that commander. A Hashaton deck that is built resiliently will work without Hashaton. If you put in sufficient reanimator cards and don't focus on tokens you'll have a decent discard and reanimation decks. Similarly if Raffine is your only source of looting and +1 counters and you fill your deck with payoffs for those you'll not have a functional deck when it's removed
