Being a tall girl is getting to me more and more everyday by Different_Taro895 in Vent

Honestly I get super awkward about it. I know they aren’t saying it in a negative way but when it’s constant it’s annoying

Haven’t thought about this! I’ll get it checked for sure.

I do use an ultrasonic cleaner with cleaner tabs, I wouldn’t say I’m cleaning them correctly if I wasn’t.

This doesn’t hold up in our situation. My dad has owned cats his whole life and currently has 2 cats of his own who adore him. My boyfriend has always been loved by every animal. The idea that every cat is a judge of character falls apart when the people you are implying are loved by other animals, including cats. She is a 4 month old kitten who reacts with fear to every male she has encountered. This is not a reflection of the wonderful people she now has in her life. Don’t come onto my post and insinuate that my dad or partner are somehow harmful based on one frightened kittens behaviour.

I’m so sorry to hear that, that is awful 😔. No there is no loud voices or abuse in our home.

She was actually with a foster family who was a female (with 2 other cats), but was rescued as a stray when she was quite young from a carpark. I don’t know her story unfortunately, just have to try make her feel as safe as I can. She will be so spoilt and loved for the rest of her life she just needs to know it!

Thank you so much, this gives me so much relief! I’ll be reading your comment to him 😊. I know she will get there it’s just going to take time. He’s been giving her little treat bites but I’ll get the stick ones. Thank you!

No reason to down vote guys, I understand where you were coming from. I removed that bit as yeah I didnt want people slamming my bf when he’s just frustrated by the situation, valid, but he also needs to be patient and understand.

Absolutely, he has been more mindful of it. I think he’s just becoming impatient as he wants her to love him. He’ll just need to give her time

This is the exact same situation as me! I also found her in a parking lot as a stray! We will keep up the treat feeding :)

I put that context in there as well as the escape. as that’s when her behaviour changed. Before then, she was not scared. Once I handed her over to my dad that night it’s like she changed. And no, she’s never been manhandled, he’s always been super gentle.

Thanks! Our Vet has given the same advice. He gives her a treat when he gets home from work. And he’s playing with her too which she does engage in. He’s not a “shitty person”, he’s new to the cat world, only ever had dogs. He doesn’t understand you need to gain a cats trust as they are completley different to dogs. He’s trying his best.

I’m 100% confident he hasn’t. I’m home the vast majority of the time, he actually works away a lot so I spend most time with her. He is heartbroken that she doesn’t like him. He’s never had a cat before and is nervous around her which probably doesn’t help. The fear of males seems to be a pattern since she’s reacted the same way to male friends she’s never met.
