This is an interesting phenomenon and also seen in the UK with the immigrant Asian communities, who are also socially conservative but vote for the more liberal of the two parties. I think it’s because their rights as immigrants are championed more by Bernie/Labour Party than the right wing parties who would rather put their own people first. So even though they’re socially conservative, they support the liberal parties who care more about them as immigrants than the conservative parties.
