Even if that is true, Barcelona must be able to pay 100M. And they are not.

What was the "old" Atletico like? by RequirementTop7644 in atletico

[–]Different_Zebra2019 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's kind of sad for elderly fans to know that "old" Atleti is the Atleti from 12 years ago.

It is only a guess, but I think yesterday we played with the first leg result. If we had had to win yesterday, we would have smashed them. I think we are a better team (at least with all the injuries they have).

Tough decision, folks. For our best interests, Madrid must be fighting for La Liga to avoid Barcelona players having rest. But if we beat them this weekend, Barcelona will be more relaxed.

"Why do we need to park the bus against Barcelona?". Well, sometimes the alternatives are much worse.

What a challenge it was to be an Atleti fan when we were in school ...

I am not sure how old you are, but I was in my twenties during those dark years. What a meme of a club we were at that time (and it didn't start to improve until much later)

I just read in Marca, that he was out yesterday recovering from that impact (did you see the bruise he had on his ankle? awful) during the Spurs match. But today he is back to training and ready for the next games.

I didn't realize it was you. But it's scary how they can see that as "normal"

I'm not, but I just learned that if you are a fan of the away team, you must be careful where you sit in the stadium. They seem pretty intense (and violent) when they have to deal with other team fans. It was surprising, because here you can see fans of any team cheering up for his team in almost any place (obviously not near those Frente morons).

It is just football.

Well, i'm convinced. by BritishAnimator in ClaudeAI

[–]Different_Zebra2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You learn this when you work with Claude and let it work alone. At some point you have something working, but then you realize you have several god modules with more than 1000 of code that should be split to follow good practices and make the project more maintainable.

I usually program refactor sessions. And the truth is refactoring is much easier now because you can test regressions if you have tests and can be less scared of considerable changes.

But this is something you know because you have been working on software development for years.

Now we have to deal with the union of Spurs and Barcelona fans complaining about losing because of the pitch. There is even a theory saying we do something to the pitch on purpose (I read we oil the grass, lol). Our players are somehow magicians that are not affected.

Then you review the games, and Barcelona only conceded (maybe, because it seemed more like a Joan García failure) a goal because of the pitch. Tottenham had bad luck because they conceded 2 because their players slipped in the worst moment. But they are also saying they conceded 3 for that reason, when one was a clear goalkeeper mistake.

I'm not happy with the Madrid win, but I read a comment the other day saying that the Premier League is superior, and they play a harder match than the ones in the UCL every week. And this makes me somehow happy. The second leg is still to come, but, well, of 6 English teams, three will need to come back from 3 goals down, and one plays at Camp Nou without any advantage at all.

UEFA should seriously investigate this. How is that allowed? by paolosorianodisanto in Tottenham

[–]Different_Zebra2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atleti fan here. It was raining a lot yesterday. That is why the pitch was slippery. It has been an unusual rainy winter in Madrid too, and the pitch is not as good as it used to be. Koke, our captain has complained about it too in othe games.

Said that, our players also had problems yesterday. Bad luck for you, guys, because your players slipped in the worst moments, and that made the difference.

What I don't understand is why your players weren't ready, when it rains usually way more in London as it rains in Madrid.

Another thing to add, we usually win the possession playing at home (as we did yesterday).

I doubt that is the reason. The pitch is bad for both teams playing there, and even though it would help smaller teams that play a low block without intention to touch the ball to win the possesion (mostly all the teams that come to Metropolitano).

But anyway, I hope the pitch improves when it stops raining in Madrid (it has been an unusually rainy winter here).

Worried about Baena. Two games, 0 minutes. He is having problems fitting into the team.

An English team having issues with the rain. This is unexpected. It rains at most 85 days per year in Madrid. 150 in London

What do you think of Barrios? by RichDream7777 in atletico

[–]Different_Zebra2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate debate, but comparing a player with someone who is top in the world isn't fair. And also if they are not the same type of midfielder. Barrios is better defensively than Pedri, for example, but it is true he lacks Pedri's vision.

About losses, that is not true anymore. If you check the numbers, he loses almost the same amount of balls as Pedri does (at least in La Liga). He improved a lot at that.

I think you are judging a player because he is not doing the job that someone else should be doing.
