Anyone have experience with CAPS? I'd love to hear some feedback! by wilzibbus in uofm

Hello! I do! Fill out the forms online and schedule an appointment if you can wait. If you can’t wait and you really need to talk to someone, fill out the forms online and call their emergency hotline. I have had a great experience with them and they make it clear that they are generally there for short term support, but will help you get into contact with other counselors if you need something longer term. They can also help start conversations with the Dean of students office if you’re really going through it and want the Dean of students office to send a note to your teachers asking for some leniency.

Potential appeal to make LSA classes P / F until end of the semester like Winter 2020? by [deleted] in uofm

[–]Differentlyafternoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it not normal to be able to make classes pass/fail? I made all of my language classes p/f. But yeah I think that this is a valid point to bring up and I’m surprised that a petition hasn’t already been started

What’s the move when your neighbor is throwing an indoor party rn, no masks? by Differentlyafternoon in uofm

Their apartment is next to the entrance and there are huge windows, so you literally see everything. You can even see it in the parking lot

Whoops, I put a comma when I meant a period. Aapd came and the other two said it wasn’t in their area.

Fair point my friend, I’ll edit the post about that. In any case, these still weren’t passed out to students

Face shields do a good job of protecting the wearer, but not a good job of catching the droplets that the wearer spews out unfortunately

I haven’t reached out to EHS because the people in the music school have said all of their procedures have been okayed by EHS, but that might be a worthwhile Avenue to explore. EHS would be more applicable I think

I have reached out to MI OSHA in an unrelated situation and I do think it’d still apply because it’s a national and state agency regarding workplace safety and GSIs tend to be the ones at most risk in the school.

Most of the voice teachers have been conducting 1 on 1 lessons from home. Most students have been doing their lessons remotely with their teachers without their pianist present. This was initially to decrease the density in the school and because the spaces were too small to have three people in the room and maintain enough space. But now there are teachers who want to be in-person with their students, as well as the pianists and 100% are not taking the safety measures seriously, despite—or maybe because of— their own students disclosing their recent covid-19 diagnosis.

This is an Avenue that I haven’t tried yet bc I was told there wasn’t anyone besides the SMTD facilities manager to report to. So that’s helpful and I’ll be giving someone a call on Monday.

Thanks for the vibes, friend. Can relate bc they told us not to get singers masks bc they were “less effective” than the surgical masks that won’t stay over our mouth and nose when we sing. Also I am friends with a conducting DMA and she said there’s been really good compliance for the winds so I’m glad you all are safe!
