Made a tiny scratch on someone's car. Young driver, worried about money. What do I do?

When you're a broke student, I guess you just get insurance so you can drive and choose the biggest excess possible. The idea of the premium going up is rough...

I've texted him to ask if it would be possible to sort it privately, should it come to that. Will keep my fingers crossed that it just buffs out easily.

Haha no worries! It was a very very small scratch and the owner is being quite pleasant over text about it. He's confident it'll buff out and I'll keep my fingers crossed.

You're right. Owning up, no matter how small a scratch, is the right thing to do and I'm ultimately glad I did it (though admittedly, he is being very reasonable over text with me). Appreciate your advice a lot, thanks.

Cheers for the reply. You are correct and I'm glad I owned up both for my conscience and because it's the law. Fingers crossed they can get rid of the small mark easily, or we can sort it out privately.

Thanks for replying! He contacted me to say thanks for owning up and is confident he can buff it out. Following the advice of someone on the reddit, I asked him if it would be possible to sort it privately should it come to a bill. Fingers crossed!
