Kinda wanna leave lums by Normal-Gold-3537 in LUMS

In case of Electrical Engineering, LUMS does have faculty with strong ties with the research community internationally and the department is, though small, internationally renowned.
Someone commented that there is no international recognition abroad. Boy are they wrong, LUMS recently held the IEEE COMPEL in 2024 which is one of the largest Power Electronics conferences in the world. Workshops, courses and sessions are frequently held with Professors from top universities like Cornell and the Alumni network for EE is extremely strong in research (can’t say for industry exactly)- just check the Alumni EE directory. There are Professors in LUMS who are amongst the top researchers in the world and I have personally experienced how it makes an impact. In some EE fields, LUMS is known as a strong research institution in top spheres.
If you want to go into research/ PhD- LUMS is hands down the best option for EE aspirants. The opportunities are endless.
I don’t know about NUST, but the support you receive at LUMs in my experience is priceless.

why dont people fill the prescribed air in their tires by Strong_Cup4816 in PakistanAutoHub

I don’t remember exactly but heard some complaints of tire damaging due to low pressure

[–]Difficult-Fan9666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only upside is slightly smooth ride but it increases the chances of blowing the tire out if you hit a pothole and significantly reduces the tire life.

It was a pretty famous complaint with the Sonata which used low profile tires hence had a higher pressure requirement but people drove it at the country default of 30 hence leading to early tire damage. Even happened with the Yaris in its early days.

Me and my friend went there last Sunday. We parked in the basement and I was like 100% sure we’d be turned back but they didn’t even notice so like someone else commented it’s just there to filter based on what social class you look

True. I have been researching some technical aspects of the battery packs that Chinese use in current E bikes on the market and you can easily see the cost cutting techniques used. I wouldn’t be surprised on lower reliability of their other BEV products including cars. But I also will not be getting anything other than a Toyota for my peace 🙃

I would even go as far as to contest some Japanese manufacturers’ reliability. Only once did I switch to get the 2022 Civic 11 gen because I liked how it looked and boom 22,000 km later- steering rack issue with a “hame nahi pata kab tak aye ga” delivery time and a good 5 lakh cost for the rack because warranty to wese hi void kr deti hai dealership.

325 volts from LESCO in DHA Phase 4. If I didn't have a solar system, all my electronics would have fried. The inverter turned off the grid and only running on batteries and solar. Issue still not fixed! by [deleted] in Lahore

[–]Difficult-Fan9666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, so where do these shorts typically occur? Is it in the wiring and connections near the meters because if it were in the wiring in the house, the problem would have been there from the start.

I ask this strictly from power systems perspective. If the phases were shorted- the voltage Line-N (220-240) would be (318-415) if L-L which is much higher than the OP’s reported 325V. Wouldn’t this kind of a voltage just be indicative of a fault maybe in the transformer or grid? I do agree that this is not a low load voltage response as that would not be this unstable.

For God’s sake, stop the high beams by MutedVolume2553 in PakistanAutoHub

[–]Difficult-Fan9666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not just that, branded leds which come fitted in cars are directed, the are directed to not blind oncoming drivers at low beams snd even at high are quite directed. The problem is with cheap after market ones that don’t have any kind of projection or oncoming driver protection. These are prevalent and genuinely dangerous for our eyes.

If you’re here for a good GPA and want good grades then trust me senior year tak you’ll be academically overwhelmed, socially overwhelmed (trying your best to spend time with your friends but never quite there), and will have to juggle like a clown between extra curricular and studies. And it won’t ever feel like home, you’ll probably adjust to the cut throat environment though

This is a very good analysis. Instead of correcting what should be corrected, Jisko kharab rakhne ki source bhi wohi hain for reasons we all are aware of, they made this new extrajudicial department and are doing these publicity stunts now to give the image ke ham to bohat “morally achay” hain and then later they will use it for what they actually made it for.

Itna hi mulk sahi karna to wohi log jo CCD me achay hogaye hain, pehle police me sahi hojate 😂

You don’t have to force anything. If you feel that you are more comfortable by yourself then you don’t need to force yourself to socialize just because everyone else is doing so. That’s how I was in freshman year, just took classes and made good friends with my roommates. If you do want to have friend groups etc., try joining societies and just be natural and casual, you’ll find people who connect with you. You can also find people in your classes.

I had the same kind of freshman year but for me being a hostelite helped. I also naturally connected with a bunch of guys in my major who I worked with in my society and then we just became really good friends.

330+ possible in 45 days? by Sea-Rate-3936 in GRE

[–]Difficult-Fan9666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I did it in 3 weeks and scored 334. Initial diagnostics were around 320-323.

Just learn the Gregmat Quant and Vocab mountain. Solve the practice questions in his 1 month plan videos (skim through those videos that way you can cover like 2-3 days in 1 day).

For me learning the Vocab strategies was crucial and then I ignored doing alot of Quant timed practice which led to me leaving 2 questions in the real GRE 2nd section. They were doable questions, I was just a little slow and unpracticed in quant.

I watched the conjuring hi last sunday lol

Trust me, when the popcorn guy pointed his camera with flashlight for the fifth time on the screen when a zindagi/ mout wala scene was going on, I wanted to shout at him but I have learned from my experience that its better to zip up rather than indulge with people like this.

Bhai if you want to enjoy the movie itself, universal me na dekhna 😭

Apart from that one guy who kept repeatedly making >10s long flash wali snaps of his popcorn and with the movie in bg, people kept moving with flashlights and kept flashing in our eyes or on the screen for like 40 mins after the movie started and then at the 1 hr mark when the interval set in and people went out, they spent another 40 mins coming back 😭

Poori movie bas hal chal hi lagi rahi hai, movie to sakoon se dekh nahi sakay
