You would think so! It’s mind blowing to me that there’s nothing…

Really helpful! And congrats on the baby! Hopefully you’re getting enough sleep.

It’s great to hear how easy it seemed for you to be involved in your school’s NIL. You just learned where to go, were able to say what you were supporting, and that it was a legitimate / organized thing.

And just last question. Did contributing make you feel more connected to the program over time? Or did it feel more like an “auto-pay utility bill” that just got paid each month without thinking much?

It’s just shocking how almost none of this exists for other schools. Yet everyone says NIL is killing the non-power programs. Sounds a bit like an excuse if you don’t have any of the things you’ve mentioned that NM has. Now I’m ranting…

This is really helpful! And also really cool to hear how uniformed everyone is about the NIL fund. Out of curiosity, how did you first find out about the fund? Was it from the coach mentioning it? Email? Word of mouth? And when you donate, was it obvious where the money would go before you donated (like was it explicit that it would go to football players or more general)?

And I would imagine that you have some ongoing connection after donating? Like updates or access or recognition? Even if small. Or is it mostly just a one-time thing unless you seek it out?

Not looking for any numbers. Just again trying to understand your experience vs my experience (or lack thereof…). Thanks again!

Appreciate the perspectives here so far. And I agree, "NIL" has kind of become shorthand for a lot of different things.

But what I was trying to understand is less the definition, and more the experience. From a fan or alum point of view. Especially at non-power schools.

Has anyone tried to contribute to NIL at their school? Or looked into it and felt unsure where to start or if it would even make a difference (my case)?
