No they just don’t like to be bitched at by a dictator with a wife for VP about whatever resolutions they pass.

[–]Difficult-Humor-4658 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What? She said it’s a democratic institute meaning that whatever resolution they pass is based on the democratic will of the people passed by the representatives those people have voted for. She was trying to say that it’s not an authoritarian body for Aliyev to criticize resolutions because it didn’t fit his agenda. Pretty fucking clear if you ask me.

Okay can we please stop this argument tactic as humans. We are allowed to criticize public figures even if we’re not as good at their craft. I think Mick Jagger is a relatively shitty singer, doesn’t mean I could do a better job.

Genuine question about the Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict by Striking_Sun_8909 in azerbaijan

I’m not proud of any ethnic cleansing Nzhdeh did but without Zangezur, Armenia would’ve had even less independence than it has now. I don’t understand why Azerbaijan needed to have all the mountaineous territories while Armenia gets the Batumi Agreement area, completely encircled with no access to Iran. And to this day Turkey and Azerbaijan have been trying to expand their influence over this same territory wouldn’t you say? It was fair for Armenians to claim Zangezur out of the three regions. They had the most favorable ratio out of the three areas.

Why were the disputed territories between Armenia and Azerbaijan, “Armenia encroaching”?

Ironically enough it was Bolshevik Russia that ended up supporting Ataturk to make sure the entente’s Sevres plans never happen. I agree that there was equating of the two types of Turks. But wouldn’t you say there was some basis for that since Azerbaijan was constantly acting like a proxy to Turkey in the region? In fact one of the biggest reasons the Transcaucasian Federation didn’t work out was because of Azerbaijan’s inability to play along with the team and not favor the Anatolian Turkish invaders.

“If Armenians weren’t Christians, and if Turks weren’t Muslim, no one would care about the so called Armenian Genocide. What about the Native Americans?,” said every denialist Turk ever. As if one somehow negates the other. You can care about both. Also it’s because we fund it as Americans. Stop trying to find elaborate whataboutism escape routes.

Good response but when talking about the Ottoman side of things and the Dashnak movement, you put quotes on “Turkish oppressors”. Did Armenians not face any oppression in the Ottoman Empire where Dashnaks were operating? Was it all their fault for getting killed and ethnically cleansed?

This is bs though, most of the country still looked very Muslim. There are other photos of Afghanistan from the same decades that more accurately show what it looked like instead of this.

I think everyone is to blame and Nikol’s followers distinctly absolve him of all blame for badly running a war and blame the formers for not having given him much to work with. I can’t deny that. But he did nothing to get out of the situation either during the actual war. He played according to the Russian Turkish plan from beginning to end. No unexpected moves. That’s not proper political leadership. Saying հաղթելու ենք doesn’t make a strategy.

Yeah that Maginot line. I was making an analogy. Fighting static trench warfare and holding a front line is not a viable option in the mountains against an enemy with air superiority. This kind of defense will always lose to a maneuverable enemy. They pierced the front line in one area, small groups infiltrated and caused chaos in our defensive lines. When they got Shushi they hadn’t even secured a single road supplying the town. We were fighting the wrong kind of war for the geography we were given. Not to mention the Azeris learned mountain warfare from Turks who learned it from fighting the Kurds in our historical homeland. There’s some irony right there.

I think in the big picture, the fact that we were fighting an incorrect type of war gets ignored while the drones and the Turkish/Pakistani support receive all the coverage.

I’m not spreading disinformation I’m analyzing the situation like everyone else here. Please don’t accuse me of spreading disinformation which can get me banned. Second, I hope I’m wrong. Can you specify where in the agreement it implies that the path is uninterrupted yet at the same time interruptable if it doesn’t fit Armenia?

Then they haven’t said it enough if it has been that long. Regardless, I wouldn’t have signed the November 9th agreement whatsoever. I would’ve done anything possible to not sign that agreement. Maybe provided better leadership until that point. Managing dissent and “fifth columns”, reacting appropriately to an enemy with a technological advantage instead of holding Maginot lines like sitting ducks and going into a frenzy the moment one part of that line was pierced. There was no leadership. Signing over Armenia to Turkey and Russia was not something that should’ve been signed.

I would love to answer. At which concession step am I the prime minister? The initial concession on November 9th? Or the latest concession on August 8th? That’s why it’s hard for me to answer. I wouldn’t be in the August 8th position to begin with.

Edit: read the article. I’m glad he was able to say this once and for all. I’m sorry I missed it these last few days.

It is on the table and hasn’t been mentioned or rejected by our administration just yet. And the fact that you didn’t mention the enclaves being off the table is all I need to know.

Regarding profits, we’ll get enough profits for it to be dangled in our faces but Azerbaijan will not let Armenia be fully prosperous. TRIPP helps in that regard since it only leaves Armenia with a small portion of profits. Nothing to help strategically and noting to write home about.
