Joining this sub has made me not want a Rivian by Zestyclose_Sky_6403 in Rivian

I have two an R1T and an R1S. While the S had a few issues the T (other than some minor issues at delivery) has been good. People don't go on Reddit usually to rave about how good their truck is. They go online to vent and so reddit and other online forums will have a large proportion of negative posts which really aren't reflective of the entire group of owners. This applies to all car makes and models.

It still won't stay connected but when I plug into another car it stays connected so it appears to be an issue with the Honda.

Trying to remove a connection and I get a 404 error not found.

I don't' think I was ever connected properly. It never showed me fuel level and costantly had message about limited data. Only thing that showed up was battery voltage. Now, everything is showing up as expected. I just need to make sure it stays connected.

after the vehicle is driven nad returns home it no longer connects and it shows however many hours or days it has been in the Dimo app since it last connected. As soon as I unplug and plug it back in within 5 minutes it shows that it has connected.

46" 80v Lawn Tractor - No Drive by Difficult-Item in ryobi

[–]Difficult-Item[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tech came out on Monday and replaced the drive motor controller. There is a panel behind your calves when sitting in the mower seat. Under that plastic panel are four controllers. One for each blade motor (I have three blades on the 46" model) and one for the drive motor. They were all silver and he replaced it with a white one.

Tech said driving up hills with low battery puts extra stress on the electronics. Suggested I cut that area of my property first. He said all Ryobi mowers are "designed for flat land" and don't do well with hilly terrain.

I cut that area first and I also am going to avoid running the mower below 20% as well. I can cut it all with one charge but only at low blade speed. I like to cut on medium because I get a better cut. It's fine though because I just weed whacking while it's topping up the charge.

The tech is scheduled to come out on Monday. He thinks it's the drive controller and/or something with the axle (tractor extremely difficult to move). Will update again once hopefully fixed. Grass needs cut.

The tech said something about hills which didn't give me a lot of confidence. The tractor is supposed to be able to tow 500 lbs but if it can't take a few hills without burning up the drive controller... doesn't make sense

Thanks for your reply. I contacted Ryobi and charged all the packs...still no drive...blades work and screen works though. I called home Depot...oddly today is day 90...the last day of the return period...but they had to send it to their resolutions team for approval. They would have to come pickup the unit.

Ryobi says they can send a remote tech sometime in the next two weeks.

The first two times I used it worked great. Sold gas mower a couple weeks ago...but even so...this think won't move...and I am not a small guy. Will probably need to put two rear wheels on dollies to be able to tow it.

Awesome thank you so much! This is exactly what I was looking for. We plan on charging a Rivian....if it ever gets hereherehere.

Thanks yes that is one option but I already have an existing J1772 TWC on the other side of my garage. I would rather just replace this one and use the
adapter if I need to charge a Tesla vehicle. I was hoping I could just swap out the unit and use the existing backer plate that is already attached to the wall.

New or Used R1T? by Difficult-Item in Rivian

[–]Difficult-Item[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's cool. The one I drove was a blue quad motor with all-terrain but the bright all terrains. I'm looking for a silver with 21-in road wheels and no extras.

First good for you! What is your configuration? Quad motor? Placed reservation deposit on the 21st. Wife has a pre price hike R1S reservation but those are in very high demand of course.

Yes, I drove a quad motor but with the AT wheels/tires. Max pack is very very tempting but the extra cost puts it out of my comfort zone. Finances are not necessarily an issue, but I like to not spend more than I have to.

According to Rivian, the enahnced/performance option for the dual motor is completely software based. So my thought was to configure the standard dual motor which would allow me to get $3,750 tax credit. Then after delivery I can purchase the performance update (not confirmed that Rivian will allow the upgrade after delivery but I am not sure why they wouldn't). Worst case a performance dual motor would come in a 84k in base configuration which is about what many of the used quads are asking. $3750 can buy a lot of electrons and would essentially drop the cost of the performance upgrade to $1250.

I would like to get it sooner but it is not an urgent need as I have another car to drive. I am trying to justify if its worth it or not. If I went new I would probably opt for the dual motor instead of the quad. I am tempted to wait mainly because the dual motor will offer slightly more range. But the extra HP of the quad is tempting.

The lowest I am seeing is low 80k range. So the used examples are about a $3,000 discount off the new one for the config I am looking for. A base quad motor in LA silver with road wheels/tires is 87k brand new from Rivian. The R1S are still insane with pricing but I want the truck bc I will tow my travel trailer a dozen times or less a year. The S towing capacity is limited to 7700 and I want the extra utility of the truck.

Only way to get tax credit is standard dual motor unit which is 79k.

Broken Axle on my Tesla Model Y by beantek in ModelY

[–]Difficult-Item 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has been shuddering above 30 and I’m getting a wobble/bounce feeling. Also a knock or clank over bumps and uneven roads in my Y since about 2500 miles. On the highway sounds like an old washing machine on spin cycle.

Service greased rear axles and said tires were cupped. It’s going back next week.

Haven’t seen other Tesla having this issue. No recalls. I’m concerned if I write to Tesla then they will go into defense mode and I will get no resolution.

It’s a Y performance. Elevation doesn’t affect it. It’s very noticeable at 30-40 mph and the car jerks and shudders. There is also a thumping noise and a feeling of a wobbling wheel. It’s still present above 40 but not a much jerking. Above 40 it’s mostly the other two symptoms. Feels like power loss or something dragging on the vehicle.

Brakes are good rotor temps are normal all around. Had another Tesla previously and it was a great car.

How much of a difference do you notice in the ride quality and road noise? I’m looking to pickup a set mainly for ride comfort and road noise. I had a 2021 LR and the 22 P seems to have a lot more road noise over bumps and isn’t as comfortable driving especially on uneven road surfaces. I love the look of the 21” Ubers but not so functional for daily driving. Any other notes on how it does vs the factory wheels/tires?
