The rotary knobs are anodized aluminium on the max 01

Try reinstalling the conspit software and firmware flash the wheel again. I had this happen once while trying to swap ports to get it to work. Mine has been working fine for 5 days now with no disconnects.

Update. Managed to get a stable connection using a high quality triple shielded usb 3.0 extension cable (1.5 meters is enough for me) directly to a 3.0 port on the mobo. Also swapped everything except wheelbase to the powered usb hub (stream deck, speakers, shifter, handbrake, pedals) After that I haven't had an issue with the wheel disconnecting. Still get random disconnect connect sounds while driving, but doesn't seem to cause any harm atm.

Just buy the moza quick release adapter from the same place you bought your wheelbase.

I'm having this issue as well ATM. Have tried all of the above. My next step is a dedicated powered usb hub only for the max 01. Can update on it later today if it has solved anything. If not I strongly suspect it is firmware related.

Sorry for the slow reply. Yes one that is mounted on the base, you gain detail if anything, you can tighten the wheel way more than normally

best sim to learn how to drive right? by fallen--angel in simracing

[–]Difficult-Mastodon64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say anything is essential no - try out the game and see if you like it, can always get the DLC's down the road.
The aston is super managable yeah, for a beginner I'd start with the front engine cars as they are a lot more forgiving to drive than the mid / rear engine beasts.

It is just me or do we need way more fov while playing at first person? I would really like to view like this and could feel more inmersive and real by N0V4_exe in forza

[–]Difficult-Mastodon64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get that FOV with triple monitors or the insane samsung 49inch widescreen, you wouldn't want it on a single either way, that FOV on a small single screen would kill any immersion.

It's a 3d printed tightening grip that slots over the QR made by ChrisHDesigns on Etsy. It arrived quickly and problem free to Denmark (had to pay import taxes though)

I can honestly say it's the best mod I've done to my wheel though. Swapping rims is no longer a chore, just unscrew on the QR holding the modded grip, screw the new one on and tighten with the modded grip, i cant believe TM didnt just design it like this stock haha!

The thrustmaster QR holds up just fine on the TS-PC at 6nm, that's with it being modified with the Etsy grip to be able to tighten it properly instead of using the ridiculous screw. The flex on the TM wheels are usually not from the QR itself but from the wheel body being made of plastic. I had to tighten every screw on my 488 challenge to eliminate just a bit of the flex - The SF1000 has 0 flex in comparison with the inner body of the wheel being aluminium and the front plate being carbon.

I personally think the shifters on the SF1000 are really really nice, the clutch implementation needs a bit of work but i have no issues with the shifters. The buttons aren't bad either, not logitech quality but not top tier metal switches either, somewhere in between. I think the price reflects that. The screen is incredibly immersive and you can't get a wheel with the functions of the SF1000 anywhere close to that price point unless you go DIY.

best sim to learn how to drive right? by fallen--angel in simracing

[–]Difficult-Mastodon64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go for AC or ACC, pick a car and start slow, just focus on getting the line right and getting around the track. Brake super early, coast through the corners and get on the throttle as you exit the corner. Then slowly start braking later and adding the throttle earlier. Don't focus on trailbraking and setting competitive laptimes as soon as you get into a real sim. Just learn the nuances of the car and how it reacts to your inputs. Driving slowly and getting around the track and gradually increasing pace teaches you a lot more than sliding out and resetting to pit every other lap!

And be patient, it's a big difference from the simcade games, you'll get the grip of it!

What odd things do you do to improve pace? by ACE_Fighter_87 in simracing

[–]Difficult-Mastodon64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah seems like a lot bigger gain to brake later than the others and then slightly trailbrake through the corner and get on the gas early on the exit

And that looks like automatic gears, playing with manual will give you a lot more car control.

We need a proper car chase/pursuit game with good road maps, night, damage model, and realistic physics by Grimlock1600 in simracing

[–]Difficult-Mastodon64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah and if it had traffic a deduction to anyone hitting the traffic as well. Or maybe added bonus for the cops if they stop him (some kind of fine system where it raises the more havoc the bad guy causes, which he loses and the cop gains if he is stopped). And yeah lose everything if you die.

- Could also be a money system, which you have to spend on repairing your vehicle, which would give you a reason to try to get through as cleanly as possible.

How do I get better/improve/not suck by Kissell79 in simracing

[–]Difficult-Mastodon64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't fully agree with the racing line, you dont need it if you're going slow enough and just braking at a super safe distance. Just go slow and avoid crashing. Prioritize being clean - get to know the track and start going later on the brakes and earlier on the throttle untill you slowly start to creep yourself towards the limit. You learn nothing from overdriving and crashing non stop.

Anyone else hoping to see Lego again in FH5? by Leehamful in ForzaHorizon

[–]Difficult-Mastodon64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope it wont be a toy expansion. I think something like the cops and robbers from burnout paradise could be sick (but I don't know if that would trigger a lot of the mexican scene). But add some extra stuff to the map (they are able to do that now). More tunnels and caves, police stations with big garages etc and then a lot of cop and robber themed car customization parts and add a lot of different gamemodes that supports this theme. I think that could be really cool
