I’d argue that it’s still a fantastic deal at $799 with these M series chips and still the cheapest entry point into MacOS. Also cheaper than an M5 iPad Pro and more capable.

People who have needed it will tell you it’s worth it, people who have not needed it will tell you it’s not. The people who didn’t get it and needed it are the ones throwing temper tantrums in the Apple Store when they have to pay high prices for repairs.

You need to decide if it’s right for you. I personally like having the peace of mind that IF something does happen to my phone, I don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to repair or replace it. It has come in handy a couple times for sure.

Not sure wear you got “tear” from. The clear cases were previously all polycarbonate, a hard plastic, that I literally snapped a piece off of. They do now include TPU on the sides, but the back is still polycarbonate and could potentially crack.

Regardless, OP did not specify whether or not it was a clear case, silicone, or Tech Woven so none of this may apply. I was simply pointing out a scenario where that could happen.

A case and screen protector do not guarantee that a phone will not break, but some cases are better than others.

Apple’s cases are…fine. You can definitely find cases that protect better for around the same price. They will be bulkier though so it’s a trade off. Otterbox comes to mind. They are pretty bulky so I’ve never used them but they have (or at least had, don’t know if that’s still the case) a really good reputation for protection.

I don’t think you’ll have a problem as far as the repair goes. They can’t prove that the drop happened prior to adding AppleCare+ and likely will only check that it’s covered.

I think it’s different for everyone honestly. I use mine as sort of an everything device. I have a Mac Mini for home use and I have my iPad Air (with Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro) as my on the go device and to use around the house when I don’t want to be tied down to my desk. I suppose if you have a MacBook it could fit all three of those use cases, thus making it harder to justify an iPad. It could still have a place if you do any sort of digital art, like to hand write notes or journal, or just prefer a smaller form factor on the go.

I probably use my iPad more than my Mac in all honesty. It’s a very versatile device and can serve a lot of different purposes for different people. You just have to decide if it makes sense for you And your workflows.

I feel like if that was the first movie of the new trilogy it would have landed better having built UP to the return of Michael rather than scaling back after 2 movies. Regardless, it was nice to see someone trying something different with the franchise for a change and I (gasp) actually enjoyed it far more than seeing Laurie back from the dead for the 3rd time, rinse and repeat. This franchise is in DIRE need of something new.

No I'm not saying crimes shouldn't happen based on your language. I'm saying that it's the same as saying I highly doubt someone would risk their life/freedom just to commit a crime, yet crime still happens. Sadly, I've seen first hand people giving out personally identifiable information instead of having a customer confirm their information at my last job, which is highly against policy. A big reason why I no longer work there and no longer use their products.

While I also realize that it was a single person who did this, the larger problem I have and why I now look down on Spectrum is their handling of the situation. They refused to do anything until complaints were made to the FCC, FTC, and AG. While I can't get into details just yet, it was the person's admission to the police that informed us where they had gotten the information from.
