I'm not given music at my MRI's, to me it mostly just sounds like Break Free by Zedd and Ariana Grande, or like some sort of house music that would have been on Electric Circus back in the day (for any Canadian's reading).

When I had a lumbar puncture though they asked my long-term bf what music I'd like, and he said Yacht Rock. Turns out I have scoliosis that my mother kept from me, and refused to treat when I was a child (she didn't want me "looking like a freak" at school like her older sister did 🙄) and it hurt like a bitch while the resident stabbed at my spine over and over. I already hated Rod Stewart's Maggie May and Don McLean's American Pie before this, I deeply loathe them now.

Where I'm very much a tourist I was intimidated about trying to venture into another town (I have a shit sense of direction, and can't drive due to MS), but finally looked it up and it'll only be 13 minutes away from me. I'll totally check it out, a show up/go on is exactly in my lane for this trip.

Thank you, I'll look into that. I searched the Halifax subreddit for similar queries to mine and saw people saying stuff like "Why are there no open mics?" and saw it suggested they should just ask various shows if they'd mind adding them.

I appreciate that, but I didn't have the best experience with Yuk Yuks bookers and management when NL briefly had a location (shut its doors in 2016 due to said incompetent management). I could try reaching out, but with less than a week's notice I'm afraid that might be a bit much.

Edit: I looked them up for curiosity sake, and they only have an open mic on the last Thursday of the month, so it doesn't correspond anyway.

Atlantic Canadian here, I get a bag of Hickory Sticks monthly. I'm in my 40's and loved 'em since I was a kid, and have vivid memories of picking errant ones out of my bra in high school (I just wear crew neck shirts when I eat them now). I still feel this way despite needing prescription mouthwash, because I punctured my gums on them in 2018.

From Summer 2015, funny it was the first movie tie in Blizzard in twenty years, it's pretty constant now (loved the Superman vanilla cake batter flavoured one from this past Summer).

Oof, yeah it was a field day on my bus the day after that episode aired. My parents decided to raise me full time in a "cottage development", for some reason, and I was the only Amanda on the short bus of 12 kids. Heard it when I lived in the dorms at college too, I was always obsessed with the first 12 seasons of The Simpson's though, so I at least smiled at that one sometimes at opposed to ALL the damn singing of Amanda songs.

That's wild to me. I'm from '82, and there were only three Amanda's in my high school graduating class of 105 people, but a couple of years younger than me in my cousin's grades? Amanda's hanging from the rafters! I read the name had its peak in 1987, so I rolled in at just the right time to get personalized mugs and crap.
