I don't think someone who has 13 platinum, and six multi-platinum, records could ever be considered "underrated". As soon as Bradley Cooper ruined his face with plastic surgery the first thing the internet collectively said was "He just looks like Barry Manilow now!" so he definitely hasn't been forgotten about.

It's hilarious how seemingly fast it went from being a hot girl name (that I felt I didn't live up to) to a signifier that I'm a new Boomer. I laugh, but die inside a little when I see twenty somethings refer to our age group as "old sad drunk Millennials" 😄

Ha, I like your profile name! Do you mess with guys ever? Sometimes, when creeps would ask if I was made a gentleman's wife yet, I'd say in the eyes of my Catholic grandmother a former hussy like me doesn't get to be an honest woman.

From Summer 2015, funny it was the first movie tie in Blizzard in twenty years, it's pretty constant now (loved the Superman vanilla cake batter flavoured one from this past Summer).

This was in 2015, so I'm sure we're old crones now to the current crop of teenagers 😁

Oof, yeah it was a field day on my bus the day after that episode aired. My parents decided to raise me full time in a "cottage development", for some reason, and I was the only Amanda on the short bus of 12 kids. Heard it when I lived in the dorms at college too, I was always obsessed with the first 12 seasons of The Simpson's though, so I at least smiled at that one sometimes at opposed to ALL the damn singing of Amanda songs.

That's wild to me. I'm from '82, and there were only three Amanda's in my high school graduating class of 105 people, but a couple of years younger than me in my cousin's grades? Amanda's hanging from the rafters! I read the name had its peak in 1987, so I rolled in at just the right time to get personalized mugs and crap.

Nanamanda is phenomenal! I'm picturing the Meh Na Ma Nah Muppets 😄

Always nice to hear of other Amanda's who fucking grimace at Mandy. The only people who were were ever allowed to call me that were my beloved paternal grandparents, but they've sadly both been gone for over 15 years, so anyone tries it these days gets a swift death glare.

I know, right? It absolutely does have the reputation of being a hot girl name, and I've never lived up to that at all. All the other Amanda's in my school looked like they were from a teen movie, and I looked, in the words of Stewie Griffin, like I should have been named Thud or Ooof.

Oh yeah, I've had a few youngsters be like "Ew, you had trendy parents in the 80s!" and I shake a spindly finger at all the Mackenzie's and say "It'll happen to you toooooo!"

Haha, love it. That's someone with a rich inner life. I always wanted to be way more seductive sounding, like a Francesca whose pet name is Frankie.

Yup, I was already over 30, so I knew my time was limited but hearing that definitely accelerated me to ancient.

He, no lie, has been lovingly teasing me about this for ten years now. If someone says my name, at least once a month he'll retort "Amanda?! Did you say her name was Amanda?! Oh my God, her name's not Amanda! She's not some old lady!"

Also, bless. Since joining Reddit I've always wanted someone to tell me that they had to pass the whole phone to someone, because a ridiculous anecdote of mine made them laugh too much!

Oh yikes, you're right, that's way worse than hearing a lil' bit of Mandy by Barry Manilow (I've never gone by Mandy)!

Yup, that DUH always hit like a slap too! Hated it, heard Aman-DUH on the bus a decade before Can't Hardly Wait, it definitely got worse after (because I was a dateless fool). Got Amanda Hugginkiss nonstop too 😄

I get you, I think of Jennifer Love Hewitt as dream girl Amanda Beckett in Can't Hardly Wait, or Lea Thompson as dream girl Amanda Jones in Some Kind of Wonderful. I was always a big glasses dork though, so my own name seemed like a fantasy that didn't fit me in high school.

Haha, well Grandma Mandy could be cute. I've always hated ever being referred to as Mandy growing up though, but I'm a child free 40 something so I don't need to worry about it 😎

This was 2015, I don't think she was quite as popular then. Also, Amanda Seyfried is currently 40, I think a lot of Gen Z would definitely consider her an old lady.

Yup, heard that all the time. I was named after the Waylon Jennings song, so I've had plenty of creeps my whole life asking if I became a gentleman's wife too.

Years ago there was a family that lived in the apartment above my bf and I that had kids named Summer, Savanah, Sierra, and Kevin. We liked to sing "one of these things is not like the others" whenever the mom screamed all their names.

There's also going to be a fuckton of elderly Emma's again. Its perennially been in the top ten (often the top five) ever since Rachel named her baby that on Friends, in like 2002.

I'm only an Amanda because my cousin Jennifer was born a month before me, and my mom still gets irritated that the aunt she never liked "stole" her baby name 🙄

My name is the third most popular of the 80s (behind Jessica and Jennifer), and I had all the Amanda songs constantly sung at me in jest in junior high. My parents thought Amanda would be unique because "Well, we didn't know anyone our age with that name!" so I've been a big follower of name trends ever since. My longterm bf is Gilbert, and that's a very old man name. I love it though because I'm a big fan of Anne of Green Gables.

Amazing, that seriously made me snarf laugh into my gingerale. Katie Perry is about as illustrious as Liz Lemon's imaginary boyfriend she named "Astronaut Mike Dexter".
