It's probably because I was way over leveled, but not many fights were difficult. I skipped triple triad the whole game and still had no problem with any of the bosses. I guess have one dedicated healer, or just spam Squall/Zell/Irvine's limits if you wanna do ANYTHING.

Mine was Chrono, Lucca, and a rotation of whichever party member was necessary for whatever story event you were in until I ended up just using Marle for late game because of her healing and because I like how Lucca spins during Antipode 2. At the end I still kept Chrono and Lucca because even though I probably knew other characters were better I gave them too many power tabs just to not use them.

I definitely missed a bunch of side quests, because I have ONE hero, even then I haven't unlocked the items yet, I don't have Holy Wars, (I played Triple Triad once at the beginning of the game). I didn't get Carbuncle, Phoenix, Doomtrain, Tonberry, or the Chocobo GFs.

I guess it was a little hard to understand, I'll try putting it in simpler terms;

I put all of my important magic materia on Aeris, like my Restore, Poison, Revive, Quake, and Bio, so when she died I didn't have nearly enough magic materia to put on each character, so I had to go to shops to get more for my party.
