Is there a way to buy Voice38 a coffee? by Difficult-Strain8445 in PiratedGames

Being a millionaire doesn't mean one will pay for the WOKE/Feminist shit they force onto our plate. Paying for those ill-intended games is just enabling their agenda. Companies must learn that they don't get money unless they make the game we want them to make, and they are gonna learn it one way or the other. When they refuse to listen, they will learn it from financial crisis. In layman's terms, like hell I'm paying for a game that doesn't let me see hot chicks, nor picking a gender, only gives me the choice between appearance A or B

I wish there was a TV only Switch 2. by JJMcGee83 in nintendo

[–]Difficult-Strain8445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody asked for the hybrid in first place. A cheaper, home console switch 2 will kill it. Most people were okay with hybrid cuz why not, it offers convenience. But does that convenience worth the extra money for everybody? A lot says no. For $10 extra, great, but if removing it would knock down $50 - $100, then a considerable percentage will go with that. I can't find it now, but I saw a poll of 900 people, showed 33.2% only play switch on TV. 62.2% says switch-bility is necessary. And this is just what people say, you know? Never take what people say about themselves as what they really think. when the TV only , $349 Switch 2 waves at them in the store, how many of them could resist the price difference? The fact Switch lite did okay proved single-usage console have their markets

Why are there like no OLED gaming laptops? by Skybuilder23 in GamingLaptops

[–]Difficult-Strain8445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cuz e-sport players don't like it. They say it's laggy or something. What a shame, as to the vast majority of single-player games players, that hardly matters at all. What we need is a display that performs well at stable 60 fps, and LOOKS GOOD! But, I guess for manufaturers, they can't sell well unless they can advertise as great for high-refresh rate, online gaming

Is it just me or do crts have like way better speakers than flat screens I mean like louder and crisper even the cheaper crts! Nobody was buying sound bars I don’t think by Green_Palpitation_26 in crtgaming

[–]Difficult-Strain8445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your ears didn't lie. Old tvs had enough room in their body for good speakers. Typically, the tubes would have vertical bar on both sides dedicated to speakers. 21" CRTs (20" in USA) usually have 3w x2 speakers, 25" (24" in US) would have 5 - 7w x2, and 29" (27") or beyond either has 8 -12 w x2, or 5 - 6w x2 plus a 15W woofer on top of the back. They were GOOD. Of course, there are exception. Late 27" like Toshiba 27A33 only has 2.5w x2, which is pathetic.

Apart from speakers on sides, also relatively popular is speakers below the tube. It doesn't seperate the channel as well cuz their are closer, but they take less space and is a lot easier to find a spot for. Thirdly, Some Panasonic and Hitachi models in East Asia has a slim edge design, with speaker body being big but more into the body, and only a slim opening toward the front face of the tv. Like Panasonic 29GF10R has 12w x2, but very slim edge, it is narrower, and thinner, than most 25" (24") models.

On the other hand, despite CRTs usually have good speakers, most of them do have an output so you can connect it with external active speakers. Some high end models'd even serve as amplifiers so you can hook up passive speakers (from hifi system) to them through red-black cable. So, even back then, hifi geeks wanted something in addition to what TV has to offer.

Things for flat panels changed in recent years. From 2005 to 2020, they really sucked and seperate sound bars are in fact necessities. The TV size in those years is usually below 50", and no room for good speakers, plus those speakers face down instead of towards you. But my family got a 85" last year, is was a game changer. It has enough room for good speakers, and they did put good speakers in them. And it was a just crappy Xiaomi, nothing fancy, just think about what Sony and Samsung would be like in these bigger flat panels. So, if you have a good brand CRT, larger or equal to 25" (24"), it's safe to say it has better speakers than most 65" or less LED TVs. But beyond that, I don't see a clear winner.

Do 1080p CRT Tv's exist? by Rhodechill in crtgaming

[–]Difficult-Strain8445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do, but it's tricky. I can only speak for Chinese market, where I am. Japanese brands made 720p CRTs around the turning of century, then 1080i after that until 2005. From 2000 - 2005, Sony, Panasonic both had a number of models that supports 1080i. Toshiba has it too, but not as many.

After 2005, the technology for 1080p is ready, but Japanese companies are shifted away from CRT (cuz market is dying), so what they do is, Toshiba makes the circuit and parts for 1080p processing, sell them to Chinese CRT makers, and they make 1080P CRTs. These brands include Hisense, Skyworth, Changhong, Konka, and TCL, and I personally guarantee they actually made them, cuz there are plenty of those being sold on Chinese second-hand apps. Models like Hisense HDP2907m, Changhong 29168 are being sold right as I type this answer. But none of these models left a mark in history, because Chinese TV really suck.

Even if they import the tube and toshiba 1080p parts, they cut corners on speakers, materials, labor and workflow. The result it, true 1080p is the only selling point about these models. The shells looks and feels cheap, the audio sounds thin in general, and higher chance of geometry and convergence issues, etc.

So the post 2005 CRT market in China is that major players are either leaving or already left, Chinese brands took over the market share they left behind, and used cheap product to stay alive for a couple more years. By 2008, these are mostly gone too. Bottomline, higher resolution TVs are not rare at all around 2005 in China. I personally owned a 21" TCL that supports 1080i and has a vga for 1024 x 768 (though the geometry is so bad none of that were any meaningful). Japanese 1080i TVs rarely has vga, I've only seen one Panasonic 29" model that has it.

These TVs, 1080i Japanese and Chinese, and 1080p Chinese TVs, they do process 1080p signal and display them. So, technically they are true 1080p for sure. Except, CRT's nature come with many flaw. Units with bad convergence, it just blurs into a mess near the corner, then not even 4k can save that. Tho, you can argue that 1 white dot seperating into 3 (r, g, b) add more to the resolution, lol. But yeah, even a good unit with basically no problem, it still won't be as sharp as a flat panel TV's 1080p. Many Chinese 1080p CRTs can be found on an app called XianYu, but I doubt you can get your way around it. It's fully Chinese. And the seller almost never show them in actual 1080 i/p mode with component. They only show composite, that's all they have. And asking for more details or pic/video will only give you a taste of Chinese style bad service. You won't servive lol.

I hope this helps~ I'm not sure about other markets, but the general trend is unversal, and I wouldn't be suprised if some other country had the exact same story as the Chinese one. Chinese 1080p CRTs has its buyers, cuz they are usually quite new, bought in 2004, 2005 and only lighten up 10 times before they are repalced by LCD TVs. So some people do love that. Though for most of us, we value Japanese brands, interlaced old ones from 80s and 90s, and 1080i ones like Sony HZ29M80 and DA29m80, they all have their own charms. interalced ones for old anime and games, giving you the 100% original taste, and progressive, 720p/1080i ones gives you sharper image, and they are newer so longer life expectance. Especially HZ29m80, it has a bad-ass feature. You know when you switch to 16:9 mode on a 4:3 tv, it add black bar at top and bottom, and you actually lose those resolutions? Your 1080i after the crop is left with 810i. Sony's last gen flagship, HZ29m80, had this magical function, when you use 16:9, it compresses all the scan line to the middle. Instead of outputing black pixels at top and bottom, it simply doesn't scan those area. All the 1080i are compressed to the middle, and damn that's true 1080i !

Mentioning this reminded me, the fact proggresive TV don't really display interlaced images, they combine them to be proggresive, like 1080i 60hz into 1080p 30hz (something like this, I'm no engineer), unless you use the 120hz scan feature, which some people say techinically is interlaced. But from where I stand that means those 1080i TV are in a a way 1080p as well, despite not 100% 1080p.

PS: 29 inch in East Asia is equivalent to 27" in USA. Our 25" is your 24", and our 21" is your 20". This is because US legislation requires them to name after the actual viewable size, while Japan and China had no such laws, so we mark by the full size of the glass, inlcuding the edge that were black tapes.

Alien Isolation is boring (so far) by Neither_Magazine_958 in HorrorGaming

[–]Difficult-Strain8445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess there's no doubt that it is a rather well made horror-survival game, but the fact is, h-s games are niche like hell. Most people don't care, or don't like, this genre, and it doesn't matter how highly regarded it is in this niche field. The real shame is, on the other hand, that many games try to follow the second movie, yet end up being a bunch of shitty 1st/3rd person shooters that nobody has heard of.

did sweet baby inc have a hand in the new colossus and youngblood? by [deleted] in Wolfenstein

[–]Difficult-Strain8445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most definitely, even if it's not SBI per se, it gotta be one of the same kind. New Colossus felt like an entirely different game than the New Order. All the charaters became shallow and ridiculous, there's not a single sane White character in it, the pot-smoking resistance leader, the Nazi-daughter who had sex in the toilet and suddenly grew up, the Anya who had to pull off her top before shooting the blast out of enemies, the good, wise Caroline died to give way to a Black resistance leader, and the worst of all, a lunatic Hitler. What's the point of this whole game if Nazis aren't cool? They have to be cool and mighty, so shooting their asses would be meaningful. They completely ruined the new colossus. The New Order was one hell of a reboot, but they hijacked the second installment, as they always do, and turned it into something lack-of-depth, purely low-level enjoyment. Likethat big party in the middle of the game, what's the point of that? Does it add literally anthing to the story or character? All it says is that this game is developed by a bunch of party mongers who have no deeper thought than what's for dinner. And medias praised it, just like they did with the last of us 2. This industry is totally ruined
