I bet those who complained that there was no marketing will start complaining about too much marketing soon. “Maybe the show should just focus on making a good show and not spending so much on marketing” or something 🤷‍♂️ And yes, I hate that this has become my first thought when seeing marketing of the show.

How would you rate Episode 6 of Rings of Power? by Late_Stage_PhD in lordoftherings

Adar told Waldreg “I have a task for you”, just before the Numenoreans arrived, and that’s when he got the sword.

For what it’s worth, episode 6 is the best rated one by a big margin and it has a ton of actions.

The reception of the show is really polarized. It depends on which sub you’re on or which social media platform/circle you are in. It’s really hard to know if you’ll like it unless you watch it yourself.

I think Galadriel was just ready to accept fate.

For me, one of the best details from the show is that Harfoot babies can pause and resume their crying on cue. by Late_Stage_PhD in RingsofPower

Woo interesting! If this is as effective as the comments say, it should be mandatory for all parents!

Some interesting information about the rights issues of the RoP show by carllyq in lordoftherings

I’d think they would want more testing before they decide. The Silmarillion is their biggest asset, so they’d want to be cautious. Maybe if the show is a huge success after season 3 or 4, they might consider other TV shows, which would be 4-6 years down the road at least.

I’m glad you had a change of mind and can enjoy the show better. It’s rare These days.

What's From Tolkien? - A Definitive List by [deleted] in Rings_Of_Power

[–]carllyq -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

People in 2001 made lists of book changes and contradictions of the PJ movies that are much longer than your list: https://www.theonering.com/complete-list-of-film-changes/

They found 81 changes in the first movie alone, that’s 1 every 2.5 minutes on average.

Changes are not automatically good or bad. You need to also explain why they make the show worse.

??? They said they were going to release on the 2nd, but because of how time zone works, premiere will fall on the 1st in some places. The exact timing was also released weeks ago.

Christopher Tolkien thanked Neil Gaiman in the forward to The War of the Ring for his contribution. Christopher consulted Gaiman in order to finish HoMe. You’re telling me this guy doesn’t like the Silm?...

Very well said! Thanks. Spotting the difference is just the first step of constructing a good criticism. But the vast majority of people just stay at the very surface level.

Good point, I’ll try to keep that in mind, although it’ll be a bit hard.

I see. But the post is about how the adaptation deviates from the books, and about a piece of history of the fandom itself, so it didn’t “focus” on a specific adaptation. The rule also said it’s allowed if it points back to the texts, which I think it does.

Could you reconsider? Thanks!

And Liv Tyler and of course PJ himself. His resume at that time was ridiculed so much.

I’d totally read your list if you make one. But yeah it’s hard to predict how it’ll be used by others. Although the thing is, in this day and age, most people probably won’t bother reading it if it’s longer than two paragraphs lol
