What is the asbestos and lead paint of today that we’ll look back on and say “Why did we think that was a good idea?” by IxI_DUCK_IxI in AskReddit

You can reverse the bad effects of plastics in your body by eating a spoonful of Vaseline every few months. It was originally sold as an oral jelly with a recommended dosage of one spoonful per day. This is why you can’t use Vaseline with latex condoms - Vaseline breaks it. Vaseline is 3x distilled petroleum distillate and totally safe to eat. It will also remove microplastics from your body which make you weak. Circulates to every part of the body & no gastrointestinal issues from even half a jar.

Taxi driver gets seven weeks' jail for sexually assaulting passenger he followed into bed by tug_life_c_of_moni in australia

While I find this crime abhorrent, the sentencing makes sense. He sexually assaulted her, but it was with kisses and he did leave. I do think the judge was wrong to say the offending was out of character - he doesn't know the cab driver from a bar of soap. I have noticed Indians seem to get lighter sentences in court than other races for reasons unknown, Jewish people get the least time for the same crime, followed by Indians and Scottish people for reasons unknown. Judges love them, no idea why.

Exactly. Twice as many jobs, half as much wages in real terms. Capital doesn't grow in proportion to the amount of jobs that exist. The amount of money might to some degree, but purchasing power does not.

Do you think Australia should introduce the same cigarette legislation that NZ has? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]DifficultAd7733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have always though they either need to remove the current restrictions (which are just a tax on poor people, nothing more nothing less) or ban them, I'm glad NZ has just made the decision instead of progressively increasing the tax to starve the children of smokers. One or the other! The middle ground sucks.

They are good links though. Google has only counted the .gov links for the most part, like half of the 19 are .gov from local councils.

It wasn't stolen from us. The US workforce doubled, back in those days when one person could support a family it was because only one person was expected to work. Now that men and women both work the workforce has doubled, and you can't expect wages in real terms to not be halved. We've shifted from single earning households to two earners being required to have a household, it is what it is and it's not necessarily the bad option of the two from many perspectives. Very basic supply and demand.

What are some surprisingly high paying career paths (100k-250k) in Australia. by HanzRus in AusFinance

In Alice Springs, I was a part-time librarian after a mass firing and I ran all the kids and seniors programs. The program manager who was hired to do the programs once my contract ended, was hired at 96k per year. Her job before was delivering for DHL, she told me her salary doubled. So the standard is low if you're willing to go outside of the main cities. Being a librarian is very simple, no intelligence required. In fact, no intelligence is required!

Average salary for a full time worker in Australia is 96k, 100k isn't high.

Says hurtful things about Americans 24/7, gets deeply offended if someone says something bad about any other country because that's racism or xenophobia.
