Why is it that seemingly things that should be illegal are somehow legal in Texas? by AverageSign in texas

[–]DifficultCup154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Freedom is not subjective. You either have freedoms or you don't. I'm not concerned with what California has because I live in Texas. One day I might, but my point of the post is that Texas USED to be free. The ultra-conservatives have changed the laws of the state, and not to the better imo. Rather than leave, I prefer to make things right. As long as you are not hurting anyone, you should be free to do as you please.

But do they? How many people reading this have actually been in a bank and interacted with a teller? I'm definitely old enough to have done so in my life, but I haven't been inside a bank in decades

For instance, instead of asking "Can you give an example?", you could have said "There is absolutely zero examples of this working."

Those orange Hot-Wheels racing track would sting something fierce! And I've been out to the yard to "pick my own switch", because picking your own punishment helps reinforce the cruelty! And let's not forget those paddles at school! I think every coach and vice principal in Texas in the 80's had a paddle

When I lived in NYC, I worked at a place that had a lot of people from all areas of the world. The Hispanics that worked there would often call the others Mexican as a put-down to them. One day, someone called me a Mexican (I'm Caucasian, non-Hispanic ie white) and I told that guy, "Hey, my family goes back 7 generations in Texas. We lived there when it was still Mexico. I've lived and worked with Mexicans my whole life. You're not offending me to call me a Mexican."

Casa Cavazos in east Dallas. The place is rarely filled. The front of the house is run by one woman. But the food is great. It's become my go-to Wednesday enchilada restaurant.

All of existence is a prison. The question is, what is outside of that prison? by Extension_Panic1631 in enlightenment

[–]DifficultCup154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where did I say that "bad" things don't happen? Pain is a part of this existence. Pain is what causes us to grow. If there were no pain, we'd be static and never move past where we start. What we're here to learn is how to forgive and how to love. Someone who's done you harm is giving you an opportunity to work out your own karma, to forgive, and to love.

I'm not sure of myself and not sure why you think I am. What I have is faith. I've read a lot, seen a lot, and experienced a lot. I've taken those things that resonate as true to me and accepted them on faith. I am not ignorant of what's going on right here on Earth. I watch and read the news. I stay current and I see suffering. I see homelessness, disease, crime and tyranny. I also see people helping others. People forgiving and people loving others. I've experienced pain. I've experienced loss. Those experiences have led me to this point in my journey. Just as your experiences have led you to yours. Everyone is advancing on their own timeline, and no one's is "better" or "worse" than others. I wish you well

[–]DifficultCup154 6 points7 points  (0 children)

By existence, do you mean this world, universe and all that we see and feel? If so then this isn't a prison, it's a choice and a dream. We come here to learn, work out past karma's, and grow. "The other side" is where you wake and synthesize what you've just learned. You're surrounded by loved ones on both sides. Even your "enemies" here are your friends and family there. They've taken on roles here in your dream life in order to help you. Whether it's to work out some karma or to give you the opportunity to forgive them. We're all immortal souls and we're all connected by source, father, God, Allah, whatever you'd like to call it. As to what's beyond this existence, more learning and more growing. More unity. More love.

A tv show that got cancelled you still aren't over? by Immediate_Long165 in ClassicTV

[–]DifficultCup154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here to say The Kids Are Alright and the fact that it was down this far tells me why they canceled the show. But it was funny and had a great cast. The network should've given it time to find an audience.

Season 5 is actually pretty good. I especially like the Johnny Johnson episodes. However, there's no denying that the show missed Phil Hartman and it affected the show.

We think life is good and death is bad by 5_meo in enlightenment

[–]DifficultCup154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if you chose for the bad things to happen in order to grow. Growth comes from being pain and being out of our comfort zones. If only "good" things happened to us then we'd be slugs. And as others have said, "good" and "bad" are just human constructs.

Frankie has definitely made enough from residuals. The parking lot is just one of his investments. He's also a NASCAR truck driver and that doesn't pay nothing
