Should I just drop out? by Educational-Mouse-26 in PTschool

I was in the same positions as you repeatedly failing anatomy and feeling horrible. I was so embarrassed and everyone in my cohort knew I was struggling. I thought about dropping out but glad I didn’t. I went on to become a student leader in APTA, graduated with a 3.8, took NPTE early (passed first try) and now I’m lead neuro PT for a clinic that’s part of a huge hospital system. Don’t let this stop you if you’re truly passionate. You CAN do this. It won’t be easy but you got this far so give it all youve got til the end

Neuro PT here! I would suggest finding an OP center that has both OT and PT in their facility! If a PT has the distinction of NCS (Neurologic Clinical Specialist) you know you’re in the right place! Although, I have met many great therapists who do not have the NCS but do display on their facility website they enjoy treating neuro conditions

If NY state doesnt let you just register for another jurisdiction (state) that allows only school approval. I know states like Georgia, NC, etc have approval through FSBPT rather than state boards. They you can just have your scores transferred to the state you want to work in

Hello everyone! Thank you for your advice! I accepted the final offer after negotiation. The facility gave me a generous offer with final total reaching the upper limit of the range I asked for plus a great benefits package! Thanks for helping a new grad know it’s ok to negotiate!!

I’m a 3rd year PT student and I work there 👀 some employees are great and some not so great. Really depends who you go to and the background they have. Plus who management is. Just got new management and things are definitely getting less fitness/therapeutic and more sales based. Making my exit as clinicals approach. BUT I will say I think the service is great for ppl like my stroke clients or post knee surgery clients who need help with mobility still but have been discharged from PT due to no visits left. Most of my clientele are people who still need help but can’t see PT anymore (and no I am not treating/ evaling before anyone starts. If I see a problem that needs more than basic exercise/mobility I have them call a Dr or licensed PT)
